I had the worst experience with CO-OP Funeral Care Woolwich branch and overall company and wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy 2 weeks ago my father passed away I called CO-OP and they were friendly / kind and compassionate at the beginning , waited 5 days to arrange a meeting with John the manager to discuss funeral arrangement and payment etc. couldnt get hold of John at all after numerous attempt to arrange a appointment . someone from CO-OP Walworth branch intervene and arrange a meeting to discuss funeral arrangement .After discussing and deciding to do the funeral on 4th March the CO-OP turned around and said that they are unable to hold my father body that long as it not company policy . so I had to find and arrange another funeral director now to take over our funeral request which is fair enough you would have thought. wanted to arrange a viewing with the Woolwich branch so we can see him before the new funeral directors can collect him the staff at the Woolwich branch refused to prepare my father as we are no longer had a booking or funeral plan with them they bluntly told us to get our new FD to collect him and then we can arrange a viewing with them. I don't expect the work from CO-OP or any FD to be free but at least show some care and compassion and empathy to people as these feeling cost nothing to be understanding / humane when a person has lost a loved one. it not like we didn't want to book the CO-OP they didn't meet our requirement and didn't want to help or assist us anymore. our new FD have collected my dad body now and it appear to have lots of bruising and marks on his body I have engaged with the CO-OP complaint dept and have asked for a full internal investigation into this matter and to get a full report. NEVER book this company as they are the worst.
Absolute disgrace! This so called funeral service should be ashamed of the service they do not provide to bereaved families and their lost loved ones! Beware of a specific woman at the Co Op Woolwich branch who doesn’t have any empathy and has lacked in any emotion. This role and position should not be taken upon like an employee working at a supermarket! We know several others who have had the same awful situation when using the Co Op Woolwich funeral service and so I can only stress, DO NOT USE!
Coop Funeral Care Woolwich were amazing with our family members funeral. Our florist commented that they were the most accommodating funeral home that they have ever delivered to. On the day, the staff were lovely. Our funeral director Caroline was amazing. She really looked after my mum. I would definitely recommend!
Apprehensive to give a bad review as the lady that booked everything was so nice but I really can't say I'm happy. First problem was that they was supposed to let us know as soon as our mum arrived so we could see her. They didn't inform us and only found out she had already been there a week when we met the celebrant and by then she looked terrible. 2nd big issue for me was that on the day of the service she was rushed into the crematorium before anyone had entered and without asking if my brother and I want to carry the coffin which we had been mentally preparing for for weeks. That's a moment that only happens once and I feel is going to upset me for years to come
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Co-op Funeralcare in Woolwich for their help and support during the recent funeral arrangements and cremation of our late baby boy. We were very impressed with the professionalism and compassion of the staff at Co-op Funeralcare. Cecilia and Mark were particularly helpful and went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable with all the arrangements. They were always available to answer our questions and provide us with support. We were also very pleased with the service that we received on the day of the funeral. Everything went smoothly and we were able to say goodbye to our son in a way that was both meaningful and respectful. We would not hesitate to recommend Co-op Funeralcare to anyone who is looking for a funeral director. They are a caring and professional team who will go the extra mile to make sure that your loved one's funeral is a special and memorable occasion. Many thanks again to Cecilia and Mark for all your help.
Do not use Co op funeral care in woolwich. They will take your money with all smiles and condolences but their after care is appalling. My mother in law lost her Father last year and has spent nearly 4 months trying to get a headstone inscription done so it can be placed back on the grave. She has raised complaints which have been met with indifference. She has even taken her complaint to the National Association of Funeral Directors NAFD who have asked a manager to contact her, still nothing. This is deeply distressing to her and our family. Poor poor customer service!!!
Unfortunately I cannot recommend Co-op Funeralcare. During the recent epidemic I had to arrange a Direct Cremation without service for my Dad on 7 August with his Ashes due to be sent home by courier at cost of £95 within 28 days. I waited patiently, and after 9 weeks sent emails to Woolwich Funeralcare without reply. The same week the third party Direct Cremation Ltd contacts me to arrange delivery the next week on October 13, some ten weeks later. After more emails I eventually had a call from the Woolwich manager agreeing to investigate and refund the £95 fee as a goodwill gesture. Meanwhile my Dad's ashes were returned by a man in an anorak with Dad's remains in a plastic bag. I was appalled. It all seemed so disrespectful. After waiting a week for the refund I made two calls to the Woolwich manager who did not respond until I called head office. He then said a refund if £95 would take 2 weeks. There was still no explanation why it took 10 weeks to return my Dad's ashes. I called the management again yesterday as it will soon be 4 weeks waiting for my "goodwill gesture" of £95 refund. Again this call was not returned and I expect I will have to call again. I still have had no reason given for the delay or any official letter regarding this. So now I am waiting again, as I waited for my father's ashes. I can't believe that such a large company who must sadly have done very well out of the Covid epidemic, cannot simply refund £95 to make things good again. Sadly I cannot recommend them in this respect.
Unfortunately I have to rate this place with at least 1 star, despite the fact that they deserve ZERO STARS! How this company are still in business is beyond me. Firstly, the building smells foul, from the moment you open the door, it hits you like a sewage system. Secondly, where the staff are concerned, there really is a lot to be desired. I was greeted by first by a man who appeared to speak little to no English, with a huge stain on the collar of his shirt, which matched the colour of the bean juice that was still around his mouth - completely unprofessional. After meeting said gentleman, I was asked to wait for 50 minutes before being introduced to another man, that absolutely stunk of B.O. and apparently had no idea that someone was waiting to be seen, so didn't even apologise for the wait? Unbelievable! After all this, I was ready to leave and as soon as I was advised on the pricing structure, I did just that. If you're looking for a completely abysmal service, no manners, foul smelling individuals and an overpriced plan, then please look no further. Woolwich Co-op Funeral Care seem to be leading the way in providing all the above. Steer well clear.
A big thank you to Amy and the team at Woolwich Co-op. They were extremely professional and showed the utmost compassion during what was a very difficult time for us a family.
Sue is an absolute Gem !in such a difficult time and heartbreaking loss she has given so much empathy and care .. She is amazing
