Just finished a 12 hour night shift on a mental health ward,gathered a few items & discovered Id forgotten my wallet. Very kind assistant offered to pay for my food,declined but wont forget her act of genuine empathy & kindness.
Great little store with 2 hours free parking right outside. I just tried their GRO plant gianduja chocolate bar which is one of the best vegan chocolate bars I've had in a while and a great price at £1.20. There are other great offers in store and they do an excellent meal deal where the snack can be a pasty, but other things are a tadge more expensive than elsewhere. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area especially to check out any of those chocolate offers the current Reece's one is good at 2 for £1.20.
Smaller selection than I'd like, but good for most things in a pinch. There are a good selection of prepackaged sandwiches and lunch food, however they don't have a full selection as you'd expect of a larger store. Good if you're wanting a picnic for a day in town or if you're about to catch a train.
Service is pretty slow and the self service machines are also slow and different to the usual ones you get at supermarkets. The loyalty card system seems pointless and I don't bother with it any more. This supermarket is okay for the essential basics but doesn't have a great range. My last visit involved being aggressively approached by a 'chugger' right outside the door. Not pleasant.
Not the biggest shop and not the most choice available but the staff are very considerate and helpul and its very convenient!
Good place though runs low on certain fresh foods regularly.
One member of staff on manning the kiosk tills and overly sensitive self service tills. Instead of finding why I needed help, the guy just cleared the issue. He also seemed put out when I actually needed assistance with a voucher and the till not accepting my money. Staff often grumpy but they often have good deals.
The service was good and staff where friendly but the only downside was hygiene as a member of staff more than once stood in the milk and small drinks chiller with her shoes in the fridge instead of using equipment provided aka footstool and following correct hygiene and safety procedures.
Update- self service tills are still rubbish and due to lack of staff, clearance of any issue takes ages!!!! I wish another retailer would take it over and provide a good service to the community as the Coop are not doing it very well at all . Waitrose anyone? Co-op has always had the reputation of ripping off the shopper with its prices due to being a convenience shop. This store carries on that policy on a larger scale. And when you come to pay, their self service tills must have been made in Noddyland as they are the worst and slowest you will find across Exeter. Tesco tills up the road are light years ahead and that is where I will be spending my money.
My local shop since 2004 when it was Somerfield. I still seem to miss the bananas delivery date each week. They either have them or they don't. Nothing in between. Place is kept clean and it's verybeasy to find what you're looking for.
