Great hotel on the Portland Riverfront. I was attending a conference at the Marriott across the street, which was booked, but so glad I stayed here instead. Get a river view room. I could see Mt St Helen’s and partial view of Mt Hood from my room. Greeted by happy geese on my morning run along the river every day. Service is great. Bed is super comfy. Room is spacious. All amenities including robe though no slippers. Much better than typical hotel restaurant PNW food & wine, with great happy hour, fireplace, expansive porch with rocking chairs and river views. Great location!
Location, location, location! Located on the Willamette River offering walking paths and an easy walk to downtown Portland. The room had an eclectic, warm decor. The bathroom was huge and Fabulous with amazing water pressure in the shower. The four stars rather than five was due to the very expensive valet parking in addition to the high room cost. While the hotel is beautiful and has an amazing location, the value per dollar isn't there.
The best dog friendly hotel in Portland metro. We have stayed here many times. They have never given me any issues and I have 2 rambunctious border collies. On the rare occasion there is a problem with my reservation they fix it as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Centrally located with a great walking path along the river to bathroom your dog.
LOVE the Kimpton! Our family needed 2 suites during home construction. We have 5 cats and 2 dogs. Everyone from the front desk, valet, room service and staff who brought us cat scratchers, beds for the dogs, all that we needed. The food is AMAZING. Very cute activities for the kids and happy hour for mom and dad! THANK YOU Kimpton RiverPlace Staff!
Some will say its pricey but I say it's a 5 star hotel. You really get what you invest in. The staff was beyond amazing from the front desk, to the Bell/Valet, to the staff that helped us to our room, and the staff that brought our breakfast to us. Aside from the amazing people, the view alone is worth the stay. Our first time in portland and I couldn't have pictured a more perfect hotel to stay in. The shops were a walk away and they have amazing food at the hotel restaurant or there is an amazing Seafood restaurant just down by the marina where the shops line the walk. They offered so many things to do at the hotel or you are just walks or a short drive from all the cool bars and other shopping areas to see. I would 110% come back and stay and hopefully soon we will be able to again.
Stayed here in May 2022 because it was an Amex Fine Hotel and I wanted to compare all the options in Portland. I also stay at The Nines a much better experience overall. I'll name 2 positives: 1. Great location 2. The bar had an amazing drink that was basically a caipirinha-inspired mojito. That's really all I can think of. The decor was... meh. Nothing to complain about. It just wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The toiletries provided didn't have anything available in neutral scent. The breakfast offerings were exceedingly mediocre. Specific to the Amex Fine Hotel program: - No upgrade available. I know this isn't a given but it's the only time that ever happened to me, in all the hotels I've stayed in the US and Europe. - Rather than a free breakfast, you supposedly get a $60 value or thereabouts that you can only spend on a handful of boring items. Worst breakfast experience in all the Fine Hotels I've tried, and by a long shot. Overall, doesn't deserve to be included on the Amex list.
Don't expect this property to live up to its luxury billing...few pros do not outweigh the cons. Pros: - no dog fees and proximity to green space makes it easy to take care of doggy business - one part-time valet that actually holds doors open and asks if you need driving directions who went beyond and organized a bottle of sparkling wine delivered to our room when we mentioned it was our 10-year anniversary - one server that actually smiled when they served food Cons: - "amenity fee" is a scam.  Our room didn't even have the "supposed" two bottles of water when we checked in, didn't know it was included, and only showed up on our last day - room was filthy - from trash under the bed not picked up to deeply stained couches gross - the room we paid to upgrade was supposed to include the "River" view but was largely obstructed with a GIANT tree - laissez-faire, almost rude staff a valet that didn't offer to hold the door as I was clearly struggling to exit to load up my vehicle after check out, a restaurant staff member that scolded us for seating ourselves after three prior mornings of doing such, and a front desk member that refused to fill an ice bucket on the first floor and kept directing us to another floor - grassy area is fine but covered in goose droppings.  it will get on your dogs' paws and shoes and will be dragged all over the room - showerhead literally broke while using - "fresh" fruit salad from the restaurant often had rotting berries - room with breakfast rate is apparently capped and no one told us the limit when we checked in two entrees, two coffee drinks, and a side of fruit is over the limit!
Hotel nice but $50 a day to park? I would not bother with restaurant as over priced and staff we encountered had attitudes and entitled .
Very nice and elegant place to stay, really liked the touch of the elements at the lobby. The view from our room was really great and got a upgrade to king suite. However 2nd floor of the hotel had bad odor, when paying premium price for these kind of hotels I would expect the place to be clean, and hygiene was average. I got booked this place using my points due to which I still gave them 4/5 else it would have been more like 3/5. Also there wasn’t any breakfast offered with the stay and it’s valley parking only for $45 budget for that too
A big thank you to Alex front desk for fixing my booking error with kindness & competence. He’s da bomb and made what could have been a disaster an adventure. The hotel is quiet and beautifully appointed. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!Rooms: 5/5
