I bought a "restored" Garrard SP25 MKIII record deck off Ebay from some random person. When the courier trashed it I could have wept - but instead I got in touch with Mark Stuckey and hired the turntable and radio equivalent of The A Team if nobody else can help you etc etc....NB. Mark is extremely expert but not exactly like the A Team as he doesn't have his own catchy theme tune Da da da DADDADA!!! -and what's even worse actually wants paying when he saves the day. HOW RUDE!!! I'd like to point out that even though the A Team claimed to be "soldiers of fortune" they never actually seemed to take money off people they helped. Not that I found Mark's fees at all unreasonable though - I'm just sayin' that' all.... ANYHOOOOoooo - where was I? Oh yeah...Mark turned a box of broken bits which included a smashed arm and splintered wood <blub> back into a turntable. Now....the worrying thing is Mark phoned me to warn me that in his opinion the deck I had given him to repair had not been earthed properly but he had sorted it. That's pretty scary!!! It now looks fab and sounds even better. Classic rock band The Small Faces sound great and listening to Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" blew my mind Don't tell my kid I'm playing his vinyl when he's out!! OK? Now, if that weren't enough he also serviced a very rare Tonesta Prince thatwasplayingwaytoofast. It now sounds excellent and plays Elvis 78s perfectly. My Cockney Rebel, Beatles records etc sound really good too and even play at the right speed. So basically, he repaired two decks that I was told by several people couldn't be fixed - and picked up on a very dangerous fault left by a previous "technician" that potentially could have killed me. I've spent a lifetime DJing but I would never again plug in another piece of vintage hi fi until Mark personally told me it was safe. I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!
I contacted Mark in August 2017 to ask if he could help me find a large vintage radio with a light up dial that we could use as a stage prop for our wedding dance. Although he didn't have anything suitable in stock, Mark managed to find a large 1937 Ferguson, added 4 lights around the tuning disk and added a separate transformer to drive it. The speaker was also removed as even without this it would have been quite heavy. I owe Mark a HUGE thank you as it looked absolutely perfect, and was just what we needed for the "OMG, the music has stopped!" moment between the two tracks. Kind and resourceful, and we shall be forever grateful - a million thanks, with love.
My husband got in touch with Mark about a Bush radio that belonged to his mum at least 50 years ago. He said there was no problem about doing work on it. It did not work. He did a fantastic job, get satisfied . It now works and looks great. A very nice man to deal with.
