My Mum lived at Claremont for just over 2 years.nInitially our family didn’t want our Mum to spend her final years in a care home but unfortunately we had no choice due to the amount of care Mum required.nIt wasn’t always perfect in the beginning but certain members of staff were fantastic & they made it her home.nThey made her smile again & gave her the best 2 years she could have had under the circumstances.nSarah & Pete were amazing with her along with Louise & Janet.nSadly Mum passed away in January & I feel I can finally write this review as I reflect.nBeing in a care home enabled my brothers & I to have a lovely relationship with Mum until the end.We visited her nearly everyday & we spent quality time with her.nI hope this review helps anyone in a similar situation & I would just like to give special thanks once again to Sarah & Pete for their loving care towards our lovely Mum.nThe five stars are for them not the decor X
I visited Claremont house recently and I must say that along with the stunning and modern yet comfortable decor, accessible layout and overall homely reception, the house and it's staff were very welcoming and reflected a very calm and peaceful atmosphere.nThe individual rooms were tastefully decorated and in keeping with their purpose, the communal areas were immaculate and well stocked where necessary. Social lounges and restaurant areas were bright and mood lifting and even the corridors of each level of the house provides conversation points/topics for anyone who passes. This care establishment has the appearance of an exclusive hotel whilst keeping an even balance between luxury and it's purpose to assist with living and provide care of a high standard.
You may say that I am biased as my wife works at Claremont House. However, this review is from my own experience. From the moment you walk into reception there is an opulent, hotel feel. The decor, furniture and facilities are just beautiful. There is a friendly atmosphere about the home with staff always having a smile and a greeting as they go about their business.
My husband stayed in Claremont House last year for a period of respite.nDespite the lovely surroundings, the standard of care was appalling.nI complained to the CQC and East Riding Council conducted a Safeguarding report. Five out of eight criticisms were upheld.nI expected a letter of apology about their treatment of my husband, but I have had no communication whatsoever.nI spoke to other relatives who were unhappy with the standard of care there.nI would not recommend this home to anyone.
We were the first through the door on open day, just like walking into a 5* hotel, the staff, surroundings, food, activities 2nd to none, mum loved her new home, all her needs were catered for every day until she passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep. We cannot thank the staff enough for making her last months so comfortable and pain free.
