As other reviews suggest, this was a poor customer experience. The optician made me feel rather uncomfortable, kept adding additional fees during the examination for retina scan £40 which made no sense to me, contact lens check £45 which added to the time the session took. Then the optician said can we hurry up when reading the letters as she had another customer waiting! Well if you hadn’t added on so many extras we wouldn’t be behind schedule? Will never use again or recommend- avoid.
Clare Darbyshire Opticians are just extraordinarily good. As someone with acute light sensitive migraine , attending the opticians has always been an unpleasant anxious experience. Clare Darbyshire's were so careful not to trigger my migraine and had the very latest retinal photography equipment where the flash was much kinder. This is the first time a visit to the optician hasn't made me very poorly and on top of that I am now reassured that my eyes are in good condition inside and out. Both the optician and her support staff are unfailingly kind and supportive. I would definitely recommend this practice.
Unfortunately. ..basic customer service ..for a non local..was not the friendliest..I myself work in a public facing role and pride myself in being open and approachable and helpful ..thus I would expect the same ..I was made to feel quite unwelcome and I was actually asked if " are you local "..after being told .." those frames are for men ..the ladies ones are over there "..seemingly you may think a helpful comment ..not really she was trying to add to her already unwelcome approach...some embarrassment to the situation...and then I was made to feel incredibly awful for trying just one pair of frames on...with the comment impatiently said " if you would please leave the frames you try to one side "....to which I understood ...but yet again it's all in the tone and manner.. so I apologized and said I wouldn't try any as not to make any extra work for her...there was no one else but one lady waiting to be seen....as I wasn't a local...it may be deemed unimportant that my experience was not a good one...but as I spoke of...I myself work in a public facing role daily...so I know and can read people and how they mean to come across....and your lady with the short grey hair..that day was very unwelcoming and not helpful.. especially when I was being polite ...and just doing an initial enquiring look..whilst waiting for my husband ..another non local .. I politely excused myself and left the premises because that how rude she was ...and waited for my husband outside. Written by an experienced Retail Manager....of some 35 years customer service given...this is the first negative review I have ever given anyone ...but felt so strongly about it I had to express my personal experience . Kindness and politeness costs nothing and should be a natural expectation for customers to receive such on entering the premises.
I recently had an eye test and then purchased my varifocals. From start to finish I had a professional and courteous service. Would highly recommend
First time I have used Clare Derbyshire opticians and the service was fantastic the staff was excellent and prices are very good I will be using them again and would recommend them to anyone . Thanks R morton
