The college was established in 1970 on Victoria Road, Fenton; making it the first purpose-built sixth form college in the country. Next to it was the Fenton Manor Sports Complex. Originally build with a capacity of 700 students, it eventually came to teach more than double that figure.nnThe college specialises in educating years 12 and 13, where students can gain AS, A2 and BTEC qualifications. More than 95% of students are aged between 16 and 19. About 90% of students are of White British heritage, with a large minority being British Pakistanis. About 70% of students come from the city, with the rest journeying in from North Staffordshire
As a former student. Please look elsewhere for your child or yourself. I wouldn’t give it 1 star if I could. I was constantly bullied. Staff and teachers did nothing about it a math teacher bullied me and harassed me I had to have a meeting with the head of math to put in a formal complaint. The only two people that were lovely was the head of maths and head of English and a teacher that left at the same time as me they were the only three that believed in me and liked me and stood up for me. They do not care about the students at all. I was living in a mold infested home on my own at 16 and they did nothing to help me at all. They didn’t let me have time off when sick without massive complications and torment by the staff. Some staff lovely others are creepy and rude. I had the worst time here and wouldn’t wish anyone the horror of going to this college. I’m disgusted by the actions and quality of this college. Send you kids elsewhere!!!
I attended this college from 2021-23 and had an amazing time after a previous bad experience at high school. Despite travelling all the way from Leek everyday on the bus it was worth it due to the support I got from all the staff there. The mental health support was good and many of the staff went above and beyond for you. The building was always spotless and there always seemed to be plenty of resources laptops, computers, etc. I had 1-1 support with my university application and was offered many opportunities careers fairs, trips, societies, etc during my time there. I was sad to leave but would definitely recommend this college to anyone considering it.
I attended the college in 1986-89. ... wonderful memories and a huge debt of gratitude to the staff and my fellow students. It was a difficult time in my life but the supportive environment helped me overcome the challenges while giving me the skills to succeed.
Atmosphere of the college is very welcoming. Very caring college, the teachers are all friendly and will help all pupils if they are asked. They have all been brilliant with my son, and have helped him a lot.nThey have always been there for both of us if we had concerns due to sons health or even work. Nothing is any trouble for this college.nI cannot fault anything they are fantastic
