Very likeable community pub on Topping Street with a warm, communicative atmosphere. Predictably, the cask ale selection isn't exactly overwhelming, but the few ones on tap are being kept in good condition. In comparison to many other such establishments around town, this is definitely one of the better ones. I attended on a karaoke night No, I didn't sing - I don't want to violate the Geneva Conventions, and the mood was very friendly. Had a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Not the most exciting cask ale in the world, but nice enough when kept well.
On arriving, the impression was that of a good local pub frequented by locals but also welcomed visitors and had a good selection of different drink options.

Was down for rebellion weekend and this was our pub of choice.Friendly staff great selection of drinks and excellent atmosphere

This is a great little pub with some good beer choices. Timothy Taylor Landlord and Madri being 2 fine examples. When we went there was karaoke going on. The atmosphere was brilliant, even over lunch time. There was a group in that were really happy, having won a competition at the winter Gardens.
Stealth pub in that I've been past loads of times and never been in. Nice ale. If you are a fan of proper job and landlord then this is a go to pub for you. Great staff and a friendly crowd.
