We went here for a birthday brunch, which is quite pricey compared to other bottomless brunches, but anyway....food was very nice and tasty, but portions are not big enough, especially for the price. Having cocktails on the bottomless brunch is a nice touch. However for the price, the food really needs to be a lot more. The desserts look very good though, amd tasted very good too. Recommend to get different dishes and share, as typically if two people get the same dish, it's going to come in a sharing plate anyway.
What an absolutely cracking spot! Found totally by accident when looking for a quick pre dinner drink in Soho - attracted in by the colourful neon lights on the wall and cool looking interior. We loved it! Enjoyed two absolutely cracking, and very unusual cocktails and a couple of small sharing plates. Great atmosphere - even on a cold Monday night. The loos were very cool too. Liked it so much that we have booked for the whole family to come for the chef’s tasting in December! Loved it!
It was my first time at Chotto Matte and even though the food was amazing. The service was not great at all. We had to wait a good 15/20min between a couple of plates and beware if you order tap water you need to ask for it every time you finish your glass as they won't put it on your table and won't refill your glass without you asking. Other than that, great atmosphere and cool groovy place! To go at least once :
Amazing Nikkei cuisine in a lively atmosphere. We did the Chef Experience, which is a set menu where the chef comes out with every course to explain the dish. Really great experience and the food is super well balanced. Make sure you're hungry, the set menus are enormous!Food: 5/5
This is possibly my favourite restaurant. The food is stunning and the service is lovely. We've been a couple of times already and nothing has ever disappointed, although we like to book earlier in the day before it gets crazy busy. Their bottomless brunch is amazing and I recommend it to everyone.
Came here for an anniversary meal and we weren't disappointed. Tried the Nikkei #3 sharing menu which is reasonably good value for £75 per head. We certainly felt full by the end of the meal! Highlights were the ceviche and miso black cod - the cod was so tender it was sublime! Cocktails were also great and the service was attentive, friendly and fast. Comfortable seating and fun vibe with the volume just right to be able to enjoy both the music and conversation. The dessert platter was extremely generous with a bit of everything!
Had a perfect night at Chotto Matte, it’s nice to go to a restaurant and actually have good food. Often going to places a bit more expensive the food doesn’t match up to the price but the food here was delicious, the decor was lovely and the staff are exceptional. Would definitely return and will be recommending it to my friends. Every dish was 10/10 which doesn’t happen often. If you ordered any or all of the dishes we got you’ll absolutely love them. Otherwise, the staff can make recommendations based on your preferences.
Excellent service, all clean. And the food was delicious. I highly recommend the experience, especially the house beer. I have to say that I really enjoyed the sushi that they caramelize with fire on the table. I have no doubt that I will go again.
Loved the vegetarian tasting menu here, came here for our anniversary meal and it didn’t disappoint! Really filling and lots of unique dishes to try. Staff were really attentive too.
We arrived to Chotto Matte London in a group of six. We was seated at a table suited for six but it did feel small and cramped. We all had £75 per head and was looking forward to our visit. We scanned a barcode for the menu but it wasn’t very user friendly at all. Here are the dishes I ordered and tried Spicy Chicken Karaage - nice flavour, good kick and presented well. The coating was nice. Arroz Chaufa - I didn’t go past the second try. We had this ordered 3 times around the table, not one person eat it. Felt grainy and didn’t go together Chuleta de Cordero Ahumada - the lamb itself was cooked beautifully. I couldn’t get over the toppings of nuts etc, it was very strong. Perfectly cooked meat, but the rest was not up to my personal taste. Pollo Picante - now if there is one thing this restaurant cooks wells, it’s the chicken. The chicken is delicious and this for me was the best dish of the evening. Put a smile on my face and topped everything I tried. Yuca Frita - this was cassava wedges and was the first thing I tried and it was a lovely start. Tastes nice, soft on the inside and a lovely crust. Chocolate ice cream - tasted like it came out of a tub and didn’t bother me. A nice refreshing end. The atmosphere had a certain ambiance. The food is cooked insight and is brought out when it’s made. You order what you’d like and it arrives sporadically. One of the guys around the table has to wait until we had our 3rd or 4th dish for him to get his. The waiters seemed confused as to what dish was delivered. We had a halal eating member on our table but they twice got told “wait, I have your dish so not sure what you’ve been given” as similar looking dishes were mixed up. I won’t say how it ended. The staff were friendly and nice, always helpful too. All in all, I see the quirky side, the idea for service and the design of the menu but it wasn’t for me, and the rest of the team felt the same way. Nice to have experienced this restaurant but I can’t see myself coming again.
