Great place, friendly staff, Dog friendly cabins and also the pub so can take your fur babies when you fancy a drink, coffee, food. Located in a beautiful location lots of lovely walks, and a chance to take in some woodland walks and there is a little lake in the middle a chance to see the Canadian geese, ducks and the grey squirrels. The lodge we had had two rooms with a lovely living space with all round views of the woodland area and the local squirrels. The lodge also had cooking facilities and towels dressing gowns and tea/coffee. Well worth a visit
I visited the Chevin Spa just for a few hours with a friend. Overall the experience was disappointing. This venue has such potential, the Lake is beautiful. On arrival there was goose poop everywhere. The pool is tired and the outdoor area dirty. The massage experience was good but pricey. The lunch included was a very average sandwich. Could do a lot better.
A group of 8 of us went to the Chevin Lodge for Sunday lunch. By far, this was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. The food was terrible and by the time it reached our table it was cold. We had to wait for a long time to place the orders and get served. When food eventually came, there was no cutlery, and the table was not set. So we had to wait another long period of time before the cutlery arrived. In the meantime, some of us, due to excessive hunger, started to pick bits of food from the plates by hand and eat. The food was so bad and inedible that some of us hardly touched the plate. The majority of the meat was fed to the three dogs we had with us. When we complained, we were given a disingenuous applogy and told they were short staffed. And with utmost arrogance charged us the full price without offer of any sort of compensation. I would never go to the Chevin Lodge again and would recommend anyone looking for a sunday lunch in that area to try the pub, which is a little further up the same road. The food there is good and much better value for money. Noteworthy details: Nothing.... absolutely nothing
We stayed here for one night for my husbands birthday. We booked an executive room that overlooked the lake. The room was beautiful, comfortable bed, tea and coffee in the room. It's was perfect to be honest. We were unfortunatley disappointed with the evening meal, my husband ordered a 10oz pork which was undercooked chef took this back to cook it a little extra My tender stem broccoli was more like crispy seaweed but I didn't complain. We also had breakfast with our package which was nice with more variety. It's a pity there's not a wider variety of food and be aware there are additional costs for your meal, not everything is included in the meal package. In fact there's not much at all. My advice would be to eat out if possible. We didn't let this spoil our visit, the staff were all lovely and really helpful. The whole place is quite beautiful and worth a visit.
Afternoon tea as a farthersday treat. The scenery is stunning, it's quiet, you forget you are so close to the airport until you spot a plane taking off. Now for the spread....... Oh, good lord!!!! Yum yum yum!!!!! Everything was fresh and scrumptious! Just DEVINE!!! The service was of the chart! Food & drinks: Afternoon tea, Tea, Coffee, Presseco
Booked my 10 year wedding anniversary here. Gutted to be honest. Paid almost £170 for a night and the room was as small as a garden shed. The lodges are a great idea but man are they tired and need some major TLC. We eventually moved rooms and although the room was better it was still tired, old, and needed more than just a lick of paint. Evening meal was atrocious. Rump steak was what you’d expect to pay but the meat was like a pair of football boots from the 50’s. Spa is small and semi decent but again, in need of modernising. Wish I’d have stayed in Leeds and gone out for a meal instead. Avoid this place.
Sunday lunch at the lakeside restaurant was great. Numerous menu options, good quality food, nicely presented and all at a reasonable price. The staff were so accomodating and friendly. Thank you Amy, sorry i didnt get the others names.Service: 5/5
Friendly staff. Great breakfasts. We had a bit of trouble with our bath in the room we booked so we were upgraded to an executive suite with more space and outside seating. Customer service at its finest. The spa is also nice. Will definitely be back.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed here for a "spa experience". It was an experience, but not the luxury one I'd looked forward to. The pool was small, the indoor hottub was very cold, and the outdoor hottub was extremely hot. The steam room was out of use; this was very disappointing as I'd looked forward to spending time in there. Nobody called before our stay to let us know that part of the spa experience wasn't available and would we like to re-book. This was really disappointing. Also, there was very little room to walk around the pool, due to the nine sunbeds that were placed around the edge. I am disabled and use a stick, and struggle with getting around; so trying to walk around the pool when there was so little space was ridiculous and dangerous. The only saving grace to the "experience" was the massage I had; it was wonderful. Food & drinks: The food we had for our evening meal was amazing. It certainly wasn't bog standard hotel food; it was superb
My daughter booked afternoon tea for mothers day. We were very disappointed. The sandwiches were tasteless and we didn't get tuna. The scones were plain i like fruit scones. Cakes were OK. Waitress was good. Definitely won't be going back.
