Lovely place. We had a 1 night stay in one of the lodges. Lodge was lovely, clean and presentable. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Just one downside was it was ridiculously hot, we turned the heating off as soon as we entered the room but had to have the windows open all night and slept on top of the bed with no covers. Had a lovely walk around the grounds and woods. The breakfast was great, a selection of continental items as well as a full English available. Would definitely return
The location is amazing and has some huge potential, so it was quite sad to see the lack of care or finish that has gone into this place. The reception and half of the restaurant seem to have taken all of the glory, the lodges and spa were very outdated and quite shabby. The spa area is very basic and could do with a spruce up. I’d love to be a ground keeper here, there is so much that can be done with just a little tlc! Enjoyed my birthday but was quite underwhelmed with the place! Staff were lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. Unfortunately though an experience is about more than how the staff treat you. Overall, beautiful location, friendly staff but could do with some effort being put into the lodges as I’ve stayed in far better for less.
Our Sunday lunch at The Chevin Hotel was a delightful escape! The food was absolutely superb - cooked to perfection, bursting with fresh flavors and high-quality ingredients. The desserts were just as impressive, leaving us very happy and full The hotel itself has a charming, relaxing ambiance. The scent of pine instantly transported us to a peaceful haven, a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff were all very nice, We were particularly impressed with Melissa, who provided exceptional service in the restaurant. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and willingness to answer all our questions made our experience even more enjoyable.
Had a lovely few days away, my son enjoyed watching the ducks and squirrels out of the window. The tea, coffee and biscuits selection in the room is great love a Yorkshire tea. We also had some wonderful service, especially from Victoria from the spa who helped carry our stuff to the room 2 kids = lots of stuff and noticed our heating wasn’t working properly, but she reported it for us and it was sorted swiftly. Such a beautiful location and friendly staff.
We stayed at Chevin Country park in on of their beautiful lodges for 2 nights for our wedding. The reception team were extremely helpful in helping to accommodate my bridal party who were coming to get ready with me in my cabin. The room was beautiful and clean and the hot tub felt so luxurious. We had breakfast on our wedding day and it was delicious and the lakeside restaurant felt so intimate and peaceful. We have already agreed to book another trip when we have time to enjoy all of the facilities they have to offer.
Had a spa day as a gift for my birthday the surroundings are dated and just look a bit worn and tired.the restaurant staff were very nice.the pool was too cool as was inside jacuzzi. The massage was adequate but the stones could have been considerably hotter. The changing room is far too small and grubby the locker wouldn't lock then finally didn't unlocked overall would not go back.if it isn't a gift it is overcharged for the amenities they provide
Had a really lovely afternoon tea here with a very reasonable voucher from Groupon. The setting is fantastic, it's peaceful and a beautiful place to take some time out. We were greeted with smiles and our waitress was so lovely. The food was great, a lovely fresh sandwiches, a mix of cakes and the best bit was the fresh, hot scones which were delicious and exactly as I'd hope to get from an afternoon tea. I'll be coming back again soon
Our lodge room was the only saving grace from our recent visit to Chevin. Service in the restaurant was poor, we waited a long period of time to be served with our drinks only being served once we’d gotten to our final course. The food was okay. Wouldn’t say it’s a spa as it has the basic amenities of a sauna, steam room, small pool and jacuzzi. Felt more like a leisure centre than a spa. Facilities could do with being upgraded as they was very outdated. Changing rooms were filthy, floors needed cleaning and flies inside the showers. Wouldn’t recommend
Stayed here for a friend's wedding nearby, loved the timber aesthetic of the buildings surrounding the lake. The misty mornings felt like we were worlds away, not just outside Leeds! Only ate breakfast but it did the job nicely even with a cracking hangover. Some of the rooms were a bit spread out but they are nicely nestled in the natural space that surrounds the hotel. Rooms were a bit warm on a night but just cracked the window and that was no bother. Staff were friendly and happy to help, even with us all gathering for a wedding while they hosted another one at the venue. Didn't get a chance to use the spa besides a quick dip in the pool and hot tub, but was nice enough and would use more if we came again.
We,as a couple , visited for a Sunday lunch recently. The dining room was freezing cold, with uncleared tables and looking as though a bomb had hit it!! Allegedly, there was a staff shortage, but this could not excuse the poor standard of the food. The beef was tough and inedible, and the vegetables were cold. The cauliflower cheese was just a mush! We did complain and were told it was the chef's first Sunday duty. We only paid for our drinks and left bitterly disappointed with our experience. We are unlikely to return, but take no pleasure with our decision.
