It has been several weeks since my awful experience at this business. I have been too consumed with grief at the loss of my beloved dog and how I was treated to leave a comment before now. To be fair, It is a lovely location and I was comforted greatly at the services that they offered to provide over the telephone. I was reassured very much. At the appointment however I was met by a woman I can only describe as rude, agitated and with no interest in my story and wishes. She was covered from head to foot in tattoos that were macabre and the last thing I needed to see carrying my dead boy in my arms. As an aside she stank of tobacco smoke and alcohol. I was in too much of a trauma to go elsewhere but I regret every day I wasn't stronger. Please do not allow this woman anywhere near your animals it will be the last memory and destroy your last moments with them. I have nightmares of the tattooo images I beseech any sensitive owners to take heed.

I would strongly recommend the Chestnut Lodge Crematorium. I have had two cats cremated there and the sympathy, great service and professionalism I have received have been beyond my expectations. They have even cremated an exhumed cat for me so don’t be afraid to cremate your pet even if you think it’s too late. I think handling an exhumed pet must be awful so I give them credit for this. I will definitely use their service again should the need arise. Thank you all at Chestnut Lodge Crematorium for everything you have done for me.

My mastiff died suddenly, early in the morning on Sunday 9th October and I found myself in the surreal and very distressing situation of looking for a crematorium for my companion of 11 years. I found Chestnut Lodge through a Google search. They were the only crematorium I could find that was open on a Sunday and I'm glad they were. They were empathetic, sincere and professional. They answered all my questions. I did not feel rushed in any way. They talked me through the process and even allowed me to inspect their facilities and then to accompany my dog right to his very last moment. I meant a lot to me that I was able to do this and was a big help. Sadly, just seven months later my other mastiff had to be put down. I didn't hesitate in contacting Chestnut Lodge again. There service has been as exemplary as it was the first time. Owing to the size of my mastiff I've had some difficulty getting a suitable sized urn for his ashes due to a lack of supply (in the end I paid for a one-off size through Urns UK) but Chestnut Lodge have been very helpful and supportive throughout. I cannot speak for the very limited number of negative reviews but from my own experience I would have no hesitation in recommending or using Chestnut Lodge again myself - they were the only positive aspect of two very distressing experiences.

Thank you for the care and respect you gave our beloved Beth our 16 year old German Shepherd cross. She was a wonderful, loving and caring companion who gave us much happiness and joy over the years and the very best we could do was to place her into the safe hands of Chestnut Lodge. Thank you once again for keeping her safe until she could be returned to us.
