Chasewater Railway

About

Chasewater Railway and Museum is a preserved steam railway in the heart of Chasewater Country park, parts of which are an area of outstanding natural beauty, home to a large selection of heritage Steam & diesel locos, carriages and rolling stock.

Story

We are located in Chasewater Country Park, just off the southbound A5 at Brownhills West and the Railway is conveniently placed for visitors from every part of the country.

The Railway is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the major visitor attractions within the Walsall, Lichfield & Cannock areas. With its policy of low-cost fares and membership fees, it offers excellent value for money for railway enthusiasts and other visitors alike.

The Railway operates passenger trains from its headquarters at Brownhills West to Chasetown, with intermediate stations at Norton Lakeside and Chasewater Heaths. A round trip of nearly 4 miles takes about 45 minutes. Day Rover tickets offer unlimited travel on all trains operating on the day of issue.

All of our trains, stations and other facilities (including the refreshment rooms and museum) are accessible for visitors with mobility difficulties

Visited today with my son and mother who is in a wheelchair. I have to say we had a wonderful afternoon. The lunch in the tea room was excellent as was the train ride. All of the staff we encountered especially the lady selling tickets and the train staff were excellent and friendly. As a volunteer at Crich tramway museum I know that the quality of staff is of paramount importance and these people were a fine advert for yourselves and the volunteer movement in general. Thank you very much and we will be returning soon.

An enjoyable rail experience with well rescued and restored locomotives, rolling stock and station buildings. The location is easily accessible with more than adequate and free parking right next to Chase Water. The cafe and shop can get busy at peak times so plan your visit with this in mind.

Not the longest train ride and not always steam but enjoyable with a cafe offering a good selection of food at both ends and a small railway museum. So you have water, water sports, sail boats, speed boats, steam trains, good views and nice walks all near cannock all great . Only slight problem is it looks like the council are just about to introduce parking charges to the free car park .

A good place for walking or take the Steam railway if you don't like walking too much. Good cafes, shop and toilets.
