Wonderful traditional butcher, very friendly, and helpful too - had a great discussion about curing methods. Very good range of products available, including those made on-site and those no longer available in local supermarkets, all have a focus on quality. Would like to also be able to buy organic meats but other than that this is the place to go.
Proper butchers are hard to find but professional butchers well, they really are a rare breed. Chapmans is in the latter category. A simply fantastic butcher with knowledgeable and friendly block-men behind the counter ready to slice and dice at your command. Great variety of meats cuts but they also carry a large range of marinated cuts ready to lob into the braai / bbq. I appreciate the great service, the cleanliness and the large amount of South Africans goodies including fantastic biltong and boerewors! Highly recommended!
Unplanned visit, was walking down Baldock High Street for the first time in years - when a glorious selection of hot bakes pastries caught my eye. I had to pop in, and when I did - it was love at first sight. The 3 words I never knew I longed for “Chilli Sausage Roll” - I have to say, 10/10 - so good that I popped back for 2 more - the lady that served me was also a delight - brilliant all round. Thanks again x
Ordered two "Cranberry Topped Game pies" waited two weeks, they arrived. One shriveled cranberry on one. Two on the other. Completely dry and tasteless. Very dissapointing
Great range of products and good quality BUT was a bit surprised and annoyed… to be charged the price of veal escalope when I asked for some veal mince meat….
I'm glad I don't live in Baldock - I would spend all my money here. Everything is delicious and worth making a diversion to visit here.
Excellent as always. Gold old fashioned high quality though you do pay a premium for this it can be worth it!
For every SAFFA this is definitely the place to buy boerewors, biltong, chips, Mrs Balls, Oumas Rusks etc etc etc. Get there early though as it is so popular they sell out pretty fast! Also bought a side of sirloin to Braai and have to say the quality is perfection in itself. Need to investigate online deliveries with this one.
Place is totally overrated, very expensive too. Old bloke tried ripping me off on some pork shoulder by ringing it up as prime beef, check your receipts here!
This butchers have such a great variety of products! Very reasonable prices too for the quality, can’t wait to return!
