For the local village, this place must be essential and adds to the unique fabric of the area. For outsiders, it's a quirky detour - thousands of books on all subjects, mostly vintage of course, and also a collections of vinyls including some Beatles, Cream, Elvis. If you're driving through the area, I'd recommend dropping by you can park outside it.
If you're visiting the Aldeburgh area of the east coast, and you're any kind of a bibliophile, you must visit Chapel Books in Westleton. There's a wonderful collection of old books, and the place is run by an amazing and delightful gentleman d'un certain age. You won't regret it.
I have been researching the history of my gt grandad, and through searching an expedition he was in, I found there was a book written about it! Upon searching for a while, I stumbled across this gem! What a lovely store, the owner was very helpful and clearly has a passion for these books. I ordered online and the book was with me by the next day.
Very extensive range of second hand books and some vinyl records although not cheap.
Labyrinthine secondhand bookshop with something to please most avid readers. Highly recommended and worth checking out if you're in the area.
A magical place. I have been coming here to buy books from the age of 7 and I love it! An eclectic and interesting book selection in a stunning and unique setting with a very friendly owner. The ideal spot to spend a rainy afternoon, with the added advantage that you can read your new purchases over a pint in the pub across the road.
Bought a very rare book here online. Finding this book in this decent enough condition online was itself a rare event. Was having nightmares of the thing getting beaten around across the pond like a pinball. Package was made with extreme care. Robert cared about making sure I got the book in the same condition it left in. Shipping was also fast. Thank you.
This is not everyone's ideal shop. It's a bit haphazard with boxes scattered around and bookcases dotted about making some areas difficult to navigate and a bit musty BUT I enjoy these sorts of places and usually find a something of interest or a bargain. Sadly, the books I selected did not leave the shop. The owner had his mask below his nose last day before they were no longer mandatory and a customer who had "just got off the train" had no mask and monopolised the owner seemingly fascinated by his family tree. He was very full of his own importance and I, and everyone in the shop heard his entire life story. So, the man had a cat 40 years ago treated by a vet somehow related to the owners birth town. Big deal. I hope that information pays his business rate bill. tried to catch the owner to ask for assistance and to pay but after 20 minutes circling gave up.
Eclectic selection in lovely village
Love visiting this book store and owner so nice. We pop in every time we visit Suffolk. Great selection of books, records etc.
