I absolutely love using the Banes Mobile Library when it comes to Pensford every fortnight. Smart new van with fantastic selection of children's and adults books. Brilliant service using the Library App to reserve and renew books. Really friendly and helpful staff. Such an excellent service for the rural villages in Bath and North East Somerset.
The library is located in the centre of the city and has a good selection though it's not big. You can also get help from friendly staffs when you find books or need something. Anyone who wants to read books can use it without an ID card. If you want to borrow a book, you have to register on the website and get an ID card in the library. The waitross cafe on the same floor sells simple food and drinks. ex. toast, burger, fish, coffee and cream tea...
Spacious library, but the choice of books is rather disappointing. Also, the chairs in the working area are very bad quality so I can't use this area without getting back problems.
Visited on 5.10.23 to use the public toilets. Fortunately one cubicle was reasonable but others absolutely filthy. Why has Bath become such a dirty city? If toilets are available for public use they should be regularly checked
There is always some dude loudly munching on crisps non-stop in an otherwise completely silent part of the library.
I haven't been into the library for ages. It was a joy to go back. The staff are delightful. Very cheerful and helpful. They brought a selection of a particular authors books out to me when I couldn't find her books on the shelves. Top service! I was a little disappointed to find that newspapers and magazines had gone. No place to sit + browse either. That's a shame. All in all the library staff are providing an excellent service on what I imagine are fewer resources and less money.
The public library is an impressive & well-lit space, fairly well laid out, with good-sized and separate study and computer areas, and plenty of social distancing between shelves. I was impressed by the reference section, particularly local history and architecture only to be expected in Bath, but less impressed by the sciences. The electronics subsection has only 12 books, and most of those are on domestic electrical engineering! It's still a lot better than the FE/HE college library - which is why I visited the public one. It's not completely quiet in the study area; some people seem not to understand the principle. So I recommend ear muffs or headphones on silent, to be sure.
I love Bath Library but they close the doors very early in weekdays. After school kids can not come if they goes to school not in city centre.
Absolutely brilliant library with a great children’s section, huge range of books, plenty of computers. A clean and tidy environment which is so lovely and light. Excellent staff and great central location.
Calm and enjoyable atmosphere; great location; well set out; different areas to pursue different pursuits; well stocked library; helpful, friendly and professional staff.
