The yard is set in a beautiful part of the Ceiriog Valley within walking distance of the village facilities (if you are fit) if you are not then there places to park at the stable. But what could be better than a stroll up through the magical Ceiriog Valley to the stable, a guided ride on a horse further exploring the beautiful countryside at whatever speed you choose, followed by an easier stroll down to one of the local hostelries for a nice meal and a drink. I love riding here, both my lovely gentle mare ‘Poppet’ who also gives rides to other adults and children and the schoolmaster horses that are available for riding. The instructors have helped me regain confidence after spending a sometime not riding. The challenges given have helped me to develop my riding without scaring me out of my wits! I had my first lesson on the lead rein – that’s how bad I was! I am confident enough in the horses on the yard to bring my grandsons aged 7 years and 8 years old riding. They are learning both to ride and how to care for horses. They both love it particularly the jousting tournaments and other themed activities. Pony days are a great hit with them, not only do they enjoy a ride in the school or a picnic hack, they meet other children and get the opportunity to play in the ‘Nature Nook’ and meet the other animals that live on the yard. Riding has been particularly good in helping to develop my grandsons balance and co-ordination and their confidence in their physical abilities, like many children now they do have the same opportunities as I had when I was a child to play outside all day. Riding and the other activities available at the yard enable them to be outside in the fresh air all day. If it rains, they are well wrapped up but if the weather gets to bad then there are inside activities for them to enjoy.

Coming from Chirk direction you go over the little roundabout then its the second turning on the right, travel up to the top of the hill and on a left hand bend you will see the stables in front of you. You will be greeted by a very warm welcome and kitted out to go riding, we were in a party group and everything was explained very well. All the horses were taken to the purpose built compound (not sure what its really called). The helpers with the horses were fantastic as were everyone, all very helpful and couldn't do enough. Everyone had a lot of riding time and I would highly recommend it. Afterwards all the children had sandwiches (bring you own) in the caravan while they talked about what they had just done.
