Had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Castle hotel where the welcome we received was probably the best we have ever got at a hotel. Staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. Our room was warm and comfortable and like others at the hotel, had been recently redecorated. The breakfasts were excellent and the one evening meal we had was delicious. The staff made such a fuss of our dog, that I thought he may not have come home with us. The bar was well stocked and prices were very reasonable. As I said all staff were brilliant but I must mention Sue who took care of reception and the breakfasts and made our stay so enjoyable.
Service a bit slow. We had Sunday lunch hear. Was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. Staff friendly and helpful. Long wait for food. Probably due to understaffed?? The Lamb roast was tasteless, think it had been boiled in water for 2 days. Vegetables was ok "ish" baked potatoes was slightly undercooked and not crispy, and tasted oily.
Great stay for the weekend with friends or family, including the dog and there's great places for walks nearby. Very helpful staff Also, the local people were very friendly and if you wanted to, you can learn more about the Welsh history or enjoy some fan entertainment I.e. music, shows, etc.... Food & drinks: A great selection and great service
Had a meal here recently. The Castle is under new management. The Game pie was very nice. My wife had a veg curry which was very good as well.Location: 5/5
Room was nice but server elderly lady short dark hair told me they didn’t know price of a certain drink when bringing my food over. They cleared my empty drink and proceeded to walk away leaving me with a warm meal but with no drink. I had to line up behind 4 people then to order at the till leaving my £18 meal to go cold on the table. Poor service.
Newly refurbished room. Slept extremely well. Friendly and professional staff. Restaurant food was fantastic and well priced. Breakfast kept us going all day and was extremely tasty. Rooms: All newly refurbished and extremely clean. Tea and coffee facilities excellent. Food & drinks: All the food was excellent we had an evening meal which was great and well priced. Also breakfast was included the cooked breakfast was extremely well cooked and very tasty. Help yourself toast, cerals, fruit juices and teas and coffee were a bonus.
Hands down the worst Sunday lunch ever. Half the meal came out 10 minutes before the vegetables and they win the award for the worlds thinnest gravy. Waiters/waitress are miserable and don't speak. Food must have been kept warm for hours the boiled potato skin was thicker than the roasts, Yorkshire pudding was like cardboard and there were 5 peas between 2 of us. I'd rather buy a packet if crisps than eat here again
We just popped in for lunch on our travels. We most certainly were not disappointed. We thought we would just have a starter. Oh my omg, and what a huge amount of prawns and so freshService: 5/5
Beautiful old building, tons of character and a warm atmosphere. Currently being refurbished and modernised, will be sure to check back in a few months to see what has been updated. Restaurant was great too. Nearby activities: Opposite the castle and not far from the main square, lots of great old buildings Food & drinks: Restaurant and full bar is great.
The location, in the centre of Llandovery, is excellent for exploring the surrounding area. There appeared to be a motorcycle event on whilst we visited so lots of off-road bikes about. The hotel itself is pretty old and well used but the food and staff are excellent. I particularly liked that there's a selection of nuts and seeds provided to supplement the cereals for breakfast, a nice touch and important for vegans. The staff were keen to engage with visitors and ensure satisfaction. I'm keen to return.
