We booked a night at The Castle for a stopover on our way back from Cornwall to break up our journey. We had our little girl and dog in tow and all were made exceptionally welcome. Our family room was very nice indeed and set out really well for both the little ones. Dinner was fantastic with great produce and a good selection of drinks to wash it down. This was topped off the morning after with a great breakfast selection and on both occasions we could have the dog with us. We wouldn't have quibbled at full price but were lucky enough to get a discount on our date. Finally, Bishop's Castle is a lovely place for a wander during any stay.

Rural location in beautiful countryside. Very old building but modern inside. Log fires, excellent food with big portions. Good selection of local beer. Lovely gardens and outside seating area. Great garden for kids. Dogs welcome. Good parking spaces. Small town location. Very hilly with lovely walks so stout shoes recommended.

We have known Bishops Castle and the Castle Hotel for several decades. We stayed for a midweek break towards the end of January, Bishops Castle is a delightful small town with friendly people and good walking country. The service is excellent. Rebecca and all the staff are courteous and give a personal attention to their guests that would be hard to improve upon. As Vegetarians we have found that our kind of food is a real test for any chef, however we had one dinner in particular that has never been bettered in our visits to some excellent hotels. The chef Michelle Davies made us a Leek Chestnut and mushroom bake with new potatoes and fresh vegetables that was wonderful and will guarantee our return visits., we have not had a better meal in the last five years. Finally may I add that a good test for food is a sticky toffee pudding, only about one in ten is made in house usually they are factory made and delivered by van. The Castle Hotel sticky toffee pudding was superb and will stay in the memory. Last but not least the wine was good too though they do have special beers.

I can't fault this hotel; lovely old building tastefully renovated, delightful staff who work very hard to please all their guests. The bar and restaurant has a great atmosphere, the food is good and the breakfast was most enjoyable! Oh yes, and the rooms are perfect, modern bathroom and a very comfortable bed!
