Absolutely disgusting thieving company, if you want to be treated like a human being, please take your custom elsewhere. They are rude, do all they can to rip you off, unprofessional and have you noticed how when responding to the MANY complaints they are condacendingly apologetic. Reading about the sink problem when they took all your deposit back & didn't THEY didn't view the property when they took over.. you definitely have a legal case, take their thieving asses to court. See how the few positives reviews are from people yet to leave the properties. They will shaft you trust me UPDATED- Their response is just not true. Again the many negative comments gives many examples of unfair treatment. In my case, they were difficult for no reason. I'll give an example of this. I moved out due to an emergency situation.. no fault of theirs or mine, however they were so unempathetic and unaccomadating it was disgusting. In addition, due to the speed & cirmumstances I need to move at, I forgot a couple of light bulbs had blown they charged over £100 for this, just not acceptable! Be aware of this company everyone. I'm very surprised to read all of these poor reviews of Castle Estates. Over the past 10 years, my husband and I have rented four different properties from Castle Estates, three of which were actually managed by Castle Estates, (the other just advertised by them). Yes, there's been little hiccups along the way, but all problems have been sorted out within an agreeable timescale. We've found Castle Estates to always be fair to us, (bearing in mind Lettings Agents have to deal with two very different customers, the Landlord and the Tenant, and the need to keep both happy), we've never had a problem getting our full bond back promptly, (but we always leave a property in perfect condition), the ladies in the office have always been courteous and professional, and call back when they say they will if they need to. They certainly have never been patronising as some on here have suggested. Perhaps my husband and I just know how to speak to people respectfully and not get their backs up? Unlike as a previous reviewer suggested, there actually are several other Lettings Agents to choose from in the area. If my husband and I had received poor, or sub-standard service from Castle Estates, I can assure you, we wouldn't have gone back to them another three times, as neither my husband or I like to take any nonsense. In our opinion, Castle Estates are better than most, and just as good as the likes of Blundells and Saxton Mee, and certainly a whole world better than the abominations that are Crapper & Hague or Mike Jolly Estates. If I were, on balance, to offer some small critique of Castle Estates, one time we viewed a property advertised with them as a four bed detached bungalow in Dronfield Woodhouse that turned out to be a three bed + cupboard, and to my husbands annoyance, they always seemed to get a bit nervous when he tried to pay rent + bond and monthly rent in cash / pound notes, as for some reason, Castle Estates seemed to prefer everything to be done through bank transfers or card payments, which isn't always the most convenient way to do things IMO. In a nutshell, don't listen to the 'problem tenants' above. Some folk expect caviar for fish & chip money, and wouldn't be happy if they were renting Chatsworth House for £500 pcm. We've always been happy with Castle Estates and would recommend them to anyone. And there isn't many firms we could say that about.

Friendly and helpful staff. Helped us get a flat for work, were accommodating (no pun intended) to our needs. Nice enough to work around our schedules for meetings. Everything went smoothly from application to getting keys.

Just a positive note about castle. I am suprised to have read some of the reviews that i have. My experience from first call to actually moving in and out again has been trouble free and all the staff i dealt with were polite and did as they promised. Sometimes the phone did ring a while but thats just one of them things in a busy office . I did have an issue when i moved out with the landlady as she wanted to keep some bond money however the person i dealt with spoke to her and it was sorted in 2 calls which was perfect. Sometime we are quick to tell a bad story however i feel that my experience was a pleasant one and should be told just as much. Well done to all the team at Castle Estates and thank you for the help in the stressful time of moving house.

I would give it less if I could. They LITERALLY use a spare key to walk into your house first thing in the morning while you're in bed. Sent a gardener round to let himself in to trim bushed WHILE we were having a bbq, who left all the debris all over the garden and broke garden ornaments, wouldn't use that spare key to come and let me in my house when I was pregnant and stuck in the rain for 5 hours because quote "everyone wants to go home" (I lived less than 1 minute drive away but to walk I wouldn't have made it before closing) and the rexeptionist/first portion call never has a clue what you're talking about.
