About

Casa Morita....we cook, eat, talk, dream real Mexican food!

Story

A new place to eat Mexican food. This time authentic Mexican Food (cooked by a verified Mexican). We believe in the food we love and know from Mexico and while burritos have a place in the world, you won't find a Tex-Mex dish in sight. We started out as Morita y Cascabel, selling tacos at West Norwood Feast and responded to the great feedback by taking the plunge September 2011 (on Mexican Independence Day!) to open a new eatery in Brixton Market! That's the Market Row part of the market by the way - the other indoor arcade along with Brixton Village. We became Casa Morita (way easier to say!)and look forward to welcoming you to eat the food we love. We offer tacos & a whole lot more. It's authentic home cooked food all the way with some special specials to surprise you too. Viva la comida Mexicana!

Great little mexican tucked away in Brixton village near the end where Franco manca is We had the tasting menu, at £25 for two it was a pretty good deal and plenty of food. The food was tasty and although the meat was a bit bland the rest of the food was well spiced and tasted great. They also have a good selection of actual mexican beers which were reasonably priced. They also sell a variety of ingredients so if you need any genuine Mexican products it would be worth popping by.
Distinctly average, a little overpriced with portion size issues. Is it authentic Mexican? In places, it's a lot more authentic than most London Mexican eateries but wouldn't be a patch on the likes of mestizo. There is a lack of flavour that you get with a good Mexican dish. This place is pricey. £13.50 for nachos is too much for an average starter. The tacos and quesadillas have potential to be half decent but bizarrely they are very stingy on the contents see attached photos. Whats up with that!? Food arrived and we were left thinking, is that it?! overall a poor show. throw a bit more on peoples plates for the price you are asking and maybe teach a bit of service skills to your staff. The michelada is decent though, hard to go wrong with that. overall £45 for a meal for 2 was not worth it. Jalisco around the corner will do a half decent burrito and a michelada for under £15. Can't see myself returning wey.
Little restaurant within the market that does wonderful authentic Mexican food, perfect margaritas, and has very cool decor. They do a 2-4-1 happy hour 5-8pm Mon-Thurs. Staff were exceptional. Would’ve liked a slightly bigger portion in the mix meal.
Here you can find the smallest margarita in London, served in a 100ml glass, of which 50% ice. The food was nothing special, overall I would not recommend.
Drinks were small but very tasty indeed. The food was average the tortillas were dry and tasted stale. Their version of nachos were pretty tasty. The staff were alright, quick to serve but did start putting chairs up when we were still eating and there was another couple next to us as well.
I was very happy when I found this place, as I thought it would feel a bit like home. Food was tasty, I was really happy with my torta, although I found the michelada pretty average but that’s just me being very picky about my favourite drink. I am rating 3 stars because the staff, even though they were friendly, took ages to take our orders or to even make sure we didn’t need anything else, they were very inattentive, that we could have sat for an hour without anyone noticing us.
Originally I liked it as it was an understated decent Mexican restaurant in Brixton Village. Now that they have squeezed in so very many tables to so few staff, getting served takes a long while. Cocktails are now put into tiny glasses so three slugs and they're gone. Food is fine but nothing to write home about they don't do melted cheese on the nachos any more either. Such a shame when companies downgrade to make more money...
I went there for a Brunch on a Sunday around mid-day. We did wait for a bit before being served but that does not bother me. What bothers me with this place is: - fresh Orange juice is just not right, the oranges are super sour - avocado on the dish were not ripe either - scramble egg is so so dry, more like a dry omelette chunked into pieces - service not very joyful My partner had another dish and the sauce was very watery and not very tasteful Would not recommend this place and would not come back
Lovely food and friendly service. We had the set menu for 2 people for £28 and there was plenty of food for us. All of the food seemed fresh and tasty, the only let down was the quesadillas which were more like a taco with just cheese in the centre with a large amount of plain dry tortilla around the edge.
Been eating here for years, the food is great but today I experienced such rude, unprofessional and pretty much aggressive service I will not be coming back. After querying an item on the bill that did not come with my meal there was some dispute and I said it was fine as I just wanted to pay and leave, the waiter decided to tell me quite rudely it shouldn't matter anyway due to it being a small amount of money in his opinion to then having the bill and receipt literally thrown in my face. Very, very disappointing and let the whole establishment and other staff members who were lovely down.
