This pub is an absolute gem. We visited on Friday afternoon and stayed for dinner. The pub has lovely views at the rear and the layout both inside and out is very nice and welcoming. The Landlady and staff where great fun and very friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful. So much so that we decided to return for breakfast on Sat and Sun. We will definitely revisit this place again and are already planning a stay next year. Thank you for your great hospitality.
absolutely lovely. Very smart restaurant and pub and terrific, busy atmosphere with helpful, cheerful staff. I ordered beef which was topside. i thought i would try it but normally i would say topside is a pot roast. Yes. It was tasty but very chewy. i would pay more for sirloin or a better cut. I do commend the Carpenters Arms for not serving up meat that has been cooked in a roll and carved off with an electric knife. A minor comment from me because, overall, i could see why it was crowded. it was really good and i would definitely recommend and go again
My partner stayed here last night after a long day at a cat show. She was greeted with a lovely, friendly young lady who helped with everything they needed. The rooms and pub was very clean and they enjoyed their stay. Even after a mix up with rooms, the female member of staff fixed the situation quickly and made them all very happy. Will stay again, fantastic price considering they had 3 rooms and 2 kittens with them.
Great lunch, great service and great atmosphere. The pub was very busy but the service was speedy and efficient with no compromise on the food. The staff were friendly and attentive and worked so hard, congratulations to you all. Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely loved this place! Staff was so kind, food was affordable and good and the cottages were wonderful. Reaching the location through public transport is difficult though, so I would advise taking a taxi. On walking distance from Highclere Castle 40 minute walk but very lovely.
While visiting from Canada, we stayed one night and wish we’d stayed longer! Fantastic accommodations, great pub and amazing staff! We arrived early, directly from the airport with no sleep after a long red-eye flight and were so grateful to find our room ready! Would highly recommend!
We booked fairly late for a 30 person family Christmas lunch and it was brilliant. The location is so convenient, the food was fantastic and boxed up my leftovers and poorly wife's meal and the staff were attentive, patient!! and all round great. Would defo recommend and hopefully head back again.
I visited the Carpenters Arms during a stay at the Tot Hill Travelodge as it was less than half a mile away and the reviews seemed good. Well I was definitely not disappointed... the staff were attentive without being overbearing and the food was excellent. I had a main course and pudding and both were cooked to perfection... the main course was beef bourguinon, and it was tasty, hot and with vegetables that had a great firmness without being crunchy. The quantity was ample and left me with just enough room to sample the dessert menu. I opted for the apple and blackberry crumble with custard, and it was served in a deep bowl with a jug of custard on the side. The fruit was again perfectly cooked and hot, and the crumble topping was amazing, with almonds and possibly some oats to make it a bit more special. This pub is definitely a must visit if you are in the area and I will definitely be back to sample someone of the menu choices next time I am here.
We had a super lunch in this pub, staff were attentive and friendly. The good was superb, can highly recommend the wrap the pate and the blt sandwich. The three cheese sandwich was very filling if a little difficult to eat as there was so much filling it kept dropping out! Very good for an informal lunch
stayed for 5 nights in October while catching up with family nearby, great value and dog friendly with a great green area and enclosure at the back. staff could not doo enough and the breakfast was absolutely stunning, had to have a cooked each day and it was faultless.
