Visited the area and had fish and chips with curry sauce. £9 in total. The fish was very small the batter very greasy. The fish was mushy and not flakey. The chips were tasty but not salt and vinegar and no salt and vinegar was offered just handed the bag all made up! Portion or chips was very small again. Curry sauce, such a simple thing I don’t know what happened. It was more a paste and had formed a skin on it and drier around the edges, maybe making them up in the individual tubs beforehand.
When I did receive my order there were a few items missing but I rang up and the lady who answered was very polite & friendly & said she’d have it sent out for me. On the other hand, I hadn’t ordered from Captain Cod for a while & forgot how good the quality of the food was. The chips I had were quality, crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside, and for the cod I had that was absolutely gorgeous. I think from now, if I ever fancy fish & chips I’m gonna stick with ordering from here.
Service: Great. Menu easy to read. Food: Lovely. Never had battered chips before, probably won’t again but they were lovely, nothing to do with the quality here. Only suggestion would be to maybe tell customers before they order that you have an app, that way I can build up some loyalty points straight away. Other than that 5 stars.
The food is fine but their delivery driver called, significantly late, to ask how close I lived to a place over a mile away from me. When I suggested she used Google Maps or similar it was like showing fire for the first time to a caveman. When she did eventually arrive the food was unsurprisingly cold. In response to owner - I don't know why your information is incorrect but I have a date/time-stamped door camera recording of it being delivered at 6:45pm - perhaps your delivery person has as good a handle on time as they have on finding addresses. And the reason the review is one is one star is that the food was cold, if you expect better reviews of entirely cold food then you're going to be disappointed. Ultimately your choice of delivery person has failed your small business this time.

The fish and chips you are hoping for? This is it. The best fish and chips I’ve had all year. Curry sauce is perfect, chips are proper chunky & crispy, cod really well cooked, batter light and crispy, not greasy and soggy.
My cod & chips have always been nice from here but tonight it was exceptionally tasty! Thick piece of cod & not greasy at all. The chips were great too. No refries! Daughter enjoyed hers too. Thank you :
We have ordered online from here many multiple of times and I'm always impressed, delivery is fast and so it's always hot. The portions are generous and the food is always as we want it. When they do mess up, it's happened just once when we actually visited the shop, they were apologetic, delivered the missing item and threw in some extra chips. Can't argue about that.
Best fish and chips in this area! Had been using the fry Inn for 8 year's but have just found that place not being great in recent times. Captain cod cooked everything freshly and the chips are some of the best i have ever had. Team very efficient and friendly. Menu was fab! Had plaice,hake and even deep fired bakewell tarts. Love it that you can order scrapes. This is my new favourite chippy.
The food was good the experience not so. When we first entered there was a que which I thought was for people who had ordered. Turns out there was two ques one for the till and another for those who had ordered. Anyway I eventually got noticed and asked if I had ordered. Once orded they put my name on a receipt and I sat on some chairs outside the front of the shop. By some miracle I managed to hear the person shouting out my name. Anyway the food was good I just think the ordering needs to be a bit more streamlined.
