Was a quiet Saturday when we came in from the cold with our dog. No problem to get a table and waitress thoughtfully asked if dog needed a bowl of water whilst we were looking at menu. Chose the medium fish n chips with peas. Glad we didn’t try the large as the portions were massive. Just a short wait ten minutes for freshly cooked fish, crispy batter was lovely and tartar sauce superb. Nice waiting staff. £50 for three people including two hot drinks.

Food was expensive for the service delivered, restaurant wasn't that busy but higher up staff were rude to customers and other staff. Unprepared for people to sit inside. Food was average, portion size was good large pictured.

One of the best places for fish and chips, Pros: fish is delicious, staff friendly. Cons: having to watch the fryer give a colleague the finger not all audiences find it funny

I have dined here several times over the past couple of years and they are still serving amazingly tasty food. Always dine in and usually have a medium Cod/Haddock & Chips... so I can leave room for a dessert! Would definitely recommend

We stayed at the Rockland Lodges, called into Pickering saw this place so decided to have a meal here. We got the medium fish & chips & a portion of battered onion rings. The meal was delicious, but far to much for us. 1 of the best we have ever had. We called in 2 days later, but had the small fish & chips & a portion of onion rings, It still was so filling & delicious. We can highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. Staff were young girls, very pleasant & efficient. Please do not take any notice of David Scott's review. No way would the staff be rude, also his £40/£50 per person is a complete lie. fish & chips with a side choice was £10 small, £12 medium & £14 large per person. He must have been in another restaurant, because it couldn't be this one.

Three adults and two children. We were seated upstairs and quickly had our order taken by a very pleasant young lady. We all enjoyed our food which was freshly cooked and good portions. I highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

I found this eatery a few years ago and always order a takeaway when visiting my family. The food is always cooked to order and is well packaged so that it keeps hot during the journey to my family's home in the next town. The quality is excellent and the quantity is generous, making the meal super value for money.Food: 5/5

The best fish & chips we've had in our two weeks in Yorkshire. Lovely light, traditional batter, chips that taste like potatoes and mushy peas like mum made. The staff were really lovely too. Highly recommend!  Follow up visit ... Just as fab as our first visit. I had a small fish & chips with curry and partner had medium fish and mushy peas.  It's a good job we don't live around the corner from here.  Pickering has plenty of carparks and other attractions to see steam trains. Worth a visit.

Read reviews for many chippys in the area before settling on Capplemans and CRIKEY BOBS it's good! We had takeaway but the restaurant looked very clean. The young lady who served us was lovely. The large lightly battered fish were perfection! Chips just as they should be, not a drop of grease, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Other people have mentioned the mushy peas and they're not wrong. They're very comforting, creamy and special in their own way. If I lived locally I'd be 100 stone by the end of the year!

I had vegan sausage, chips and mushy peas.  All selected from the vegan menu.  Lots of other options available.  Everything was delicious.  I deducted a point because the restaurant was a little bit cold.  Staff were friendly and attentive.  Vegetarian options: Vegan menu available upon request
