A very pleasant park with a large variety of trees, a pretty lake and a castle. Plenty of parking, decent toilets, football pitches and a cafe. Entry to the castle and the parking are free. It's all dog friendly with plenty of bins. Even if the car parks appear full, drive down to the end and if conditions allow there will be overflow parking in a field. If there is a match on, check out the club house for a reasonably priced beer.
Caldicot Castle is a lovely historical spot and a really nice place to visit, especially when there are no events running. It has a relaxed, chilled atmosphere, making it a great place to wander around at your own pace and enjoy the castle and grounds.nThe inside grounds are well worth exploring, with plenty to see and a nice sense of history throughout. There is also a small shop selling food and drinks, which is handy if you want to stop for a snack or something to drink during your visit.nThere is plenty of seating available, both in the sun and in shaded areas, so it is easy to take your time and relax while enjoying the surroundings. It can get quite busy when events are on, but even then, there is still plenty to look at and enjoy.nOverall, Caldicot Castle is a pleasant and interesting place to visit, with a good mix of history, open space, and a calm atmosphere when it is quieter.
Great free entrance and parking... If you happen to go to caldicot asda.... Don't park on the carpark if the store is closed.... It will cost you £60.... But 2 hrs free parking if its open
Lovely castle that is still free at the moment.nnIt has good level gravel access inside. Obviously the towers are not able to be accessed if you gave a walking disability, butnit's still well worth a visit.nnCouncil run cafe and gift shop inside that servers snacks and drinks you can also purchase alcohol too.nnLots of seating inside the grounds and a really nice young children's play area.nnIt's worth taking a walk around the grounds with its grass and woodland and a mature pond.nnFree parking is also available.
What a beautiful little castle and grounds, and it’s all free.nYou can walk for miles.
