Story

Cakestand and Crumb is a little gem, hidden down a narrow yard, off the Market Square, in the beautiful Georgian market town of Ampthill.
The Vintage Café and Bakery opens Thursday to Sunday and serves a fantastic range of cakes, baked on the premises by owner Eve.
She discovered her love of baking whilst running a catered ski chalet in the French Alps and now spends her time thinking up new recipes to give customers a special treat when they visit.
The café also serves a good selection of sandwiches and other snacks but their real specialty is a sumptuous afternoon tea. This includes a selection of different sandwiches, scones with fresh clotted cream and jam followed by a variety of cakes including mini pavlova’s served with fresh fruit and cream – perfect for that special celebration!
All this can be enjoyed whilst listening to old tunes on a vintage Dansette record player, surrounded by old mirrors, china cups and saucers and other bygone delights. Some vintage items are for sale as are pretty gift items, often made by local crafts people.
When the sun is shining there are tables outside and even a water bowl for the thirsty four-legged friend!
The café can also be booked for private afternoon tea parties to celebrate that special occasion, hen party or work get together.
