Very friendly quick service. All the items in the window are really well labelled with allergens. Great variety of sweet and savoury treats. The coffee is one of the best I have had in a while. Would highly recommend
My favourite bakery in the Toon! The quality of their breads, pastries and cakes are top notch. I always enjoy their baked cheesecake, focaccia, banana and chocolate cake and sausage rolls! Can't go wrong with any of these options. The staff are always friendly and super quick with their service as well. Can't recommend this place enough!
Absolutely fantastic little bakery almost hidden away in a wee side road. Great selection of sweet and savoury treats. Best cinnamon rolls/knots I've ever had.
Everything is fresh and delicious. There is a large selection is pastries and there are often new ones to try The savoury foods are perfect for lunch They have great coffee too! Lots of vegetarian options I would just like it if the opening hours could be extended
The one star is purely for Phil who was absolutely lovely and a pleasure to be served by. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for the rest of the experience at the cafe in Jesmond. £11.50 for a pasty and coffee after being advertised as just under £4 for the pasty. You are not told that when you sit in the prices vary and you are served a side dish of salad that increased the price drastically. That aside, I paid for it as I understand prices are sometimes higher when sat in. After being asked why we didn’t eat the salad I simply explained I did not order it nor did I really want it. The waiter then went to speak with the manager on his own accord who then shouted across the cafe ‘no they can pay for it’ it was already paid for. The waiter Phil was being very attentive and I believe the manager can learn a lot from his great customer service skills. The manger then proceeded to lie to us after we stated we wanted to speak with her after what we heard her shout. She then passed the blame onto an employee and took no responsibility and said she sent her home, we later walked past and seen she was still there. After an offer of some pastries which we declined and saying she would refund us came back a few minutes later with a pastry and a £5 voucher, despite saying we would not feel comfortable going back. Will not be returning.
Very good quality of food. Variety for meat eaters with a lovely Salt Beef pretzel or vegie options including pastries and Cheese savoury scottie and even a range of vegan friendly food. The quality is really good and the staff are friendly. I would definitely recommend this.
Amazing selection of baked goods that change frequently, I'd recommend their gingerbread, pear and blackberry cobbler and pretzels! Adam, one of your servers/bakers is always lovely and makes sure to ask about my day and make conversation, would love to see a larger selection of fillings in your pretzels soon as I don't eat beef!
I'm not sure wether this has always been the case… or was the usual almond frangipani filling you’d usually expect in an almond croissant missed out by accident on one I purchased from your branch in Jesmond earlier today ? If it’s usually the case then basically it’s it’s just pastry with a few almonds scattered on top along with a dusting of icing sugar….which is not very up to standards in my opinion. Also the raspberry and custard danish… yes whilst it was ok 5/10 the raspberry sauce looked to be just a dollop of cheap raspberry jam from a jar ? Which in turn made it too sweet and sickly. A better approach would be a fresh raspberry coulis with a little icing sugar so not overly sweet, leaving it still a little tart to then contrast with the sweetness from the custard, thus making it more balanced and enjoyable. On a plus note the pancetta sausage rolls are worthy of a Michelin star in their own right, and the railway gingerbread cake is top notch also. Review update ! Hi, so upon your reply relating to yesterdays review…. I popped in to the Newcastle shop on pink lane to collect my almond croissant which you kindly offered as a good will gesture; I informed the staff working there of yesterday’s croissant missing it’s filling and they were totally understanding and with no qualms gave me a free replacement. I didn’t quite catch their names, but both the lady and gentleman working were lovely and a credit to your establishment. As for the croissant it was perfect this time around and very delicious indeed definitely worthy of Kindest regards, Andrew
The best almond croissant I’ve had in my life! It’s always sold out after class, so sad… Go there at least once every week, almond croissant makes my day! Soooo good! I always ate them before bfk
The carbs are soooo good. Best carbs in town. One point knocked off for the cafe though as it can be very draughty so not quite the comfort point of similar cafes.
