Cafe Tabou - OUR PHILOSOPHY
Food is our passion. Preparing, serving and enjoying a delicious meal is always inspiring.
The essential elements are: honest cooking, which can be traced back to the freshest ingredients, we know where all our produce comes from, we know and trust our suppliers; a great selection of wines, a welcoming atmosphere - we want our guests to feel at home, not to stand on display.
Our quest is to create a place in Perth where people can enjoy great food that is prepared with ingredients of the highest quality and served in a setting that is without unnecessary fuss, where we can say with confidence to all: eat what you love.

Ate here for Sunday lunch with hubby and daughter whilst visiting her in Perth. Service was superb and the food exemplary! The cote de boeuf was ridiculously good! Clean. Everything perfectly cooked and completely high end. We loved it!
Four in the party at lunch time on Saturday with a table reserved and probably just as well as it did get busy. It does have a French vibe, the three waitresses that served us did a great job of seating us and getting drinks and the food order promptly. We sat inside but there is seating outside if you are brave enough. We ordered daily specials and items from the set menu and all were tasty, fulsome and timely. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend it if French food is desired.
We had the 2 course set menu which was very nice before we ordered the waiter put 4 little pieces of French stick and butter on the table that we just assumed were complementary but in fact are charged to your bill. My dessert seemed quite small

Came here first because it was close to where we were staying. Came again because the food and atmosphere were just great. I'd learned as a child that there has always been a historic link between Scotland and France, but hadn't seen any evidence of it in the modern world. It's here. Seafood bisque - rich, complex flavours, wonderful colour, great rouille to go with it. I had hake with a fennel cream that looked fine, but not exceptional, but the flavour ! Fantastic. It's one of those places where the hum of conversation tells you that people are enjoying themselves. On weeknights there is a Prix Fixe menu - £23 or so for two courses, £30 for three, and the Chateaubriand steak is on offer £50 ish with wine. Great value for great food. Interestingly I think that in Perth the presence of possibly three good French style restaurants is pushing up standards, rather than a race to the bottom on price. Lucky Perth! Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor, doors onto street, saw wheelchair access in use.
Lovely atmosphere, superb food and very personable staff making the dinning a special occasion, will definitely be back.
Top quality Perth Restaurant. Always full to the brim, and always very professional service. Chateaubriand is a must! £60 for two people, with a stunning bottle of red, mid week special. Better pre-book though or you wont get a table. I also highly recommend the seafood soup starter, it's incredibly good.
Really nice inviting atmosphere. Pleasant friendly staff & delicious breakfast of eggs royale & a good strong coffee.
Only giving 2 stars because of the lack of quantity of meat on the main I ordered. Also me and my wife ordered the same desert and mine was also not the same quantity as hers. Must have seen me coming! Very tasty food none the less but couldn't help feel a bit ripped off. When I mentioned my issue with the poor quantity of meat on my main to the waitress at the end all I got was a half hearted "I'll pass the message on".
22 of us booked for late lunch on New Year's Eve. We had a flawless afternoon, brilliantly looked after by the team. The food was great and the service prompt and with a smile. Keep up the great work folks.
