The wife and I stopped here for brunch through the week. Was seated very promptly and our drinks orders taken.nnI had a Vietnamese Iced coffee which I'd never tried before. It was delicious. My wife had a latte that she described as smooth and velvety. For brunch I ordered harrisa houmous on sourdough, with grilled halloumi, two fried eggs, pink pickled onions, pomegranate seeds, mint and drizzled with chilli oil. My wife ordered poached egg muffins with hash browns, avocado and cowboy butter hollondaise sauce. Sounds braw. When the dishes arrived I was very pleasantly surprised. They looked so tasty and we're presented extremely well. Digging in the flavours were exceptional and were married together expertly. The service was very attentive and thorough too. All in all a tremendous experience and I had no qualms in letting the waiter know. Will definitely be back
We’ve tried many times to dine at cafe strange brew but there has always been a line. Finally turned up early enough to beat the crowd and we were not disappointed. The breakfasts were delicious. The fish tacos were super tasty and the poached eggs, bacon and avo muffins were solid. To top things off they have a great selection of Hot Sauces!!!
Friends. Don't make the same mistake I have made here. You see this pancake dish? Delicious. Amazing. You should order it. But. Don't try to eat this whole thing yourself. You cannot do it. I promise. I ordered it with my heart and not my brain. Buy it to share with someone else. Don't attempt it alone. Don't be a hero. You are not built different.
The quintessential Pollokshields cafe, that’s been caught up in a bit too strong of a hype train.nnWas recommended this place by a lot of folk, and is packed with a queue every time I walk past it, but after the 1 hr wait to get in, I was underwhelmed with the meal.nnThe chorizo hash was nice, but my meal the Turkish eggs was not great. Rather cold, and not a great portion, I was pretty hungry still after devouring this.nnEverything else, while dressed up nice, is just default cafe food. Nothing on the menu felt very unique, and throughout the experience service was slow due to how rammed it was constantly.nnCoffees were nothing to write home about, just standard cafe stuff. I would’ve loved to have had something interesting, as the plates are really well put together. But the flavours weren’t packing the punch I was hoping for.nnEvery staff member was lovely though, and obviously mildly stressed, but that wasn’t passed along to the customer! If the menu changes, or if there’s something I missed I’d happily return, as it is nice to sit in. But not a must go to for me. Cheers :
I chose this cafe as my breakfast place because they relatively have high ratings in the surrounding area. When I was there, it was packed but the service was quick! Had two daily specials savoury and sweet. My partner had savoury special and it was interesting, very chewy sourdough with a potent aroma of curry I forgot the name. But my order, pancake with summer berries, on the other hand..... wow. Can't describe it with words!! Just look at the heavenly pictures. Feels like I'm eating an art. Like a craft that someone made wholeheartedly. It also tasted great too, everything blended well perfectly in terms of textures and flavour. Unfortunately the portion was massive I couldn't finish it. A good and memorable visit nonetheless.
