Got the afternoon tea and was pleasantly surprised. For the money you can't go wrong. The portions were good and the croques instead of finger sandwiches was a nice twist. The scone was excellent. The staff here were also great. Very friendly, lots of smiles, and helpful.
Dinner was OK. BUT we arranged for birthday candles and they never came. Disappointed teenager I don't know if I'll go back.
Large cafe rouge, a bit dark inside unless you are right at front or back. The afternoon tea was a bit disappointing. Croque Monsieur is always yummy.
Went as a last minute Groupon deal, glad we did. We had 3 courses starting with beetroot tart which was tasty but had been put in the microwave which was a shame as you could really tell. I had a burger for the main which was really good, lots of flavour. For dessert I had the rhubarb crumble, again tasted good but had been nuked. If it was all done fresh it would of got 5 stars. Service was really good.
Came in for a few drinks and an order of fries. Place was empty and yet service was awful the fries never came yet they put them on the bill. Others received their food who had come in and ordered after us. No apology or correct bill without request. Then they took forever to take money and give change. I got the distinct impression l was not welcome and would certainly never return. Some of the people with me were tourists I hope this was not anything to do with the appalling service.
Can't fault this really. Wonderful walled courtyard that almost transports you to the south of France. Good steak, good burger, great garlic bread to start. Good service too. Only downside is that my steak would've cost £22 added spinach and I wouldn't have been happy paying this much had I not had vouchers.
The guy on reception had the wrong attitude completely, unwelcoming and almost rude. We had a table close to the door that constantly being left open so a cold draft. Waiter was very nice but food was slow to come, overall we were not impressed. However when trying to get to the accessible toilet the door was partially blocked by stacked high chairs and spare chairs making it quite difficult to get in and out with a wheelchair making things even worse. There are plenty of other places that are far more accommodating and there was also a step of approximately 7-8 inches and no ramp so not easy to get a wheelchair in. Bad choice and lesson learned, we will not return.
Corporate meal last night - Great food, ambience very chilled. Service was unfortunately unprofessional with waitress rolling her eyes when empty plates weren't passed quick enough - we were talking and there were 10 of us! Main gripe though was that when we asked for coffee at 9.55pm we hadn't been offered coffee by this point we were told that the coffee machine was turned off and that we could have instant instead. Not great really for a restaurant.
We booked a table for nine at Cafe Rouge for my Grandma's 90th Birthday. We requested a quiet space away from any drafts. The service we received was impeccable! We were given a private room and our waiter was very respectful to my Grandma ensuring she was comfortable and happy. The waiter gave us plenty of time to eat, chat and have a lovely time with our family, he did not rush us through our meal like so many other restaurants do. The waiter checked on us regularly and met all our needs with a smile. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. Also the food was delicious!!!!!!
Got a Groupon voucher for Christmas and looking at the menu we were both looking forward to the meal. When we arrived, we were lead to the table and given a smaller menu without much variety, 3 of the 5 options were soup for a starter! Initial drinks were forgotten, the restaurant wasn't busy.... The food itself was good quality, just the service really let the experience down.
