Had a lovely afternoon tea here last Sunday. The value was excellent, the afternoon tea was €15 per person and was enough to fill me for the day. The service was very attentive. It was delicious food and I there was complimentary Sunday newspapers available to read. Will be going back.
Went for early lunch, host wasn’t that friendly. Menu is nice, I would recommend the fish cakes 100%! Maybe ask for the sauce on the side as it can be over powering. They have really sweet cups and saucers.
Very nice food. But that's after it stops. My wife went there today with our 4 year old daughter. It's a place she frequently goes. However, today before 2pm she was being served by a bad mannered waitress. Firstly she took away the cutlery for my daughter must expect her to eat with her hands. Then she only brought over the adult menu. It took 10 minutes to get the child's menu from her. She huffed and puffed when she was asked for a coloring set for the child they are usually given out automatically. It's a way of keeping toddlers from annoying other guests. She was abrupt at dealing with my wife and she could be overheard talking to other staff members about how my wife was doing her head in. Now I know that Sunday lunchtime is busy. But it does not exist bad manners. We will be back to Cafe Zest, but we will refuse to be served by this member of staff.
About 10 days ago I had lunch in Zest and ordered the salmon which was on special. It was absolutely one of the best salmon dishes I've had and I am one who eats a lot of salmon and other fish frequently. The remoulade served with the salmon was superb. I would love to know the recipe!!! Can you please congratulate the chef - it was delicious. Well done. Sally
A while ago i was in Zest in Dundrum Town center. I ordered a salad. The green leaves were tinted pink, the way they go when they are in the fridge a couple of days. I said it to the manager, who checked in the kitchen and simply told me that they were fresh that morning, no apology or replacement, I was shocked and hadn't eaten there since. I ended up eating there last week. I got the avacado on toast. The avacado was tinted brown, the way it goes when it's in the fridge a while. I asked the manager if it was made to order. She told me that all avacado are mashed in the morning, that they wouldn't have time to mash an avacado to order during the day, again, no apology or replacement or anything. I will never eat there again. The food is not fresh.
In the Cafe right now. Waited for ages to be seated while there were free tables. They stopped serving breakfast at 11.45, only lunch after on the 27 December!!!!. Asked for fresh apple and orange juices, they didn’t have them. Didn’t offer any alternative, just plain “no”. Last year it was a different place, will not return.
Cafe is based on House of Fraser, on the third floor of the Dundrum Town Centre. Menu is quite limited, but it is a cafe, after all. Many of the options available are seafood, such as salmon and hake, which we had. Food was ok taste wise. Portions are not huge though, and you don't get chips, rice etc with your meal. Prices are moderate. Staff were professional, but not overly friendly. There is an outdoor area also, but no-one was eating out there in January! Overall, ok, but there are lots of other options in the centre to consider...
Arrived at 11.15 yesterday the 7th. Was seated promptly. Was handed the menu. Then waited and waited. Eventually I called a waitress after 30 minutes to take my order. Granola and coffee. 8.50 according to the menu. Steeply priced but I thought it should be good. A handful of raspberries and strawberries topped the glass of dried oats which topped a disgusting yoghurt. I did not eat it. I asked for the bill as my lift had arrived. I was in a rush. The bill was 11.25. Clearly states on the bill 8.50. What a rip off. Why do restaurants need to rip people off. I won’t be back.
The manager of this cafe was very rude and arrogant. She definitely is not aware what hospitality and good customer service is. She treated me and my friend like we were scum. Even though both of us are store managers. I don't understand how people like her can be a manager. I regret the day when I decided to have a lunch in this place. Never again.
I was waiting 5 mins to be seated and when I was I was waiting another 10 mins to see a menu. I got the burger and it was great. The sweet potato fries are actually.sweet potato cubes, which were grand but not the same. When it came to.paying one waitress said go to thr bar and then snother waitress came over so I could pay st thr tsble. Overall it was a fine experience.
