I have had the most wonderful experience with butterfly brides! Carol and Laura have been so helpful! Laura helped me chose my dress, and after a mediocre experience in Exeter I was already feeling deflated about the dress situation. She put my mind at ease when we arrived, chose some wonderful dresses after listening to what I wanted and I ended up choosing the kind of dress I knew I wanted! Communication has been amazing so far and even though I have 4 months until the big day, I have no doubt the rest of the process will be just as smooth!
Butterfly brides- Upon arriving at Butterfly brides, we were greeted and told to have a look through the dresses and pick a few out. This being our first dress shop for my friend who is getting married, we didn’t know what kind of style or fit would suit best, so we picked out lots of different ones. Once we had picked out about 5, we were ushered into the changing rooms. The first dress my friend tried on was stunning, and she looked amazing, but she was very quickly told to go try on the next dress, something that we didn’t expect, as trying on your first dress should be a special experience. The next dress was also lovely. After being rushed through trying on the first two, the next dress was a tiny sample size, as were most of the other dresses in the shop. We were just lucky with the first two! The lady serving us was very quick to whip the dresses away and not ask if my friend wanted to maybe try them again after she’d tried on a few. She made my friend feel very body conscious because none of the dresses fit, the styles of dresses didn’t work as they were not sitting right, due to not fitting. Once she had tried on the 5/6 dresses picked out, there was no chance to go and have another look or re-try any of them as we were handed a card with the one dresses name on, that she liked and scooted out the door. Feeling very deflated, we decided to go for a coffee and regroup before going to the next shop. After our coffee, we walked back past to the car and there was already another bride in the shop trying on dresses, not even an hour and a half past our booking time. Luckily, we then went to another shop who took their time, properly conversed about what was wanted and had dresses that fit a normal human body! Overall, I wouldn’t recommend butterfly brides unless you are a size 6 and know what you want in a dress, as you won’t get any help and will be made to feel unworthy.
I would highly recommend a visit to Butterfly brides for any bride to be. The selection of dresses they stock is fantastic, whether you’re searching for a beautiful ball gown or sophisticated slim fit. I personally didn’t have a clue what style wedding dress I wanted and I had to try on every style before I decided. Brenda and Charlotte at Butterfly brides were very professional and informative about the collections as I was picking them off the rail to try on; trust me, I needed a lot of guidance! I have a naturally very small frame, due to this my dress needed multiple adjustments. The seamstress based at the shop is a miracle worker! Not only did she work tirelessly to ensure I was happy with way the dress fitted; she even customised my dress by adding a small amount of gold beading to ensure my dress matched my bridesmaids. Last but not least the shop is also in a beautiful town where you can really make an experience out of the day you ‘say yes to the dress. There’s plenty of coffee shops around where you can take the bridal party to before or after the dress fitting. I can assure you none of the dresses I tried on smelt ‘funny’ and my wedding dress was truly perfect. The whole experience of getting my wedding dress was perfect and the team really do pay a lot of attention to the finest detail.

Wow what an experience… could not fault Carol. I went with an open mind but with ideas of a dress style that I know I didn’t want. However, I came out buying a dress that was a complete opposite to what I imagined! The dress I brought happened to be the first dress I tried on and the dress Carol happened to have picked out. I would recommend Butterfly brides to anyone. I can not wait to go back for my fitting and to wear the dress on my wedding day.
Beautiful bridal boutique in poundbury. Lovely selection of dresses. The staff are all lovely and the seamstress Linda is fantastic. Dress was altered 4 weeks before my wedding most places is 14 which allowed for maximum weight loss! The alterations were very reasonable in price too. 100% recommended
They all seem really nice when you first go there, I pick my wedding dress and 6 Bridesmaid dresses and 7 tiaras all together so a lot of money was spent with them. They ordered the bridesmaid dresses 3x the size of my bridesmaid. as that meant the person they have to do alterations get money too. I didn’t live near by, and our wedding for postponed I said I was gonna get them alterations down near me and that when they started causing issue. Said I had to pay another £150 for Storage and threatened to sue me, if I bad mouth there Business that was from Brenda the owner. They taking no responsibility in the over sizing my bridesmaid dresses when there was no reason too. Part from one dress we order in a bigger size not all 6. When I pick all dresses up I had to check them and one of the bridesmaids dresses had a black mark on, yes they got it out but took 7-8min to get it out. When I try to talk to them about my issue they just blame them all on me. If I didn’t pay £150 then they take me to court and I wouldn’t be able to pick my dress up
Me and my mum had a lovely morning here - the dresses are so beautiful and really girly and sparkly, they make you feel so special- the photos on the website don't do justice to how stunning some of them are. Laura was helpful and not ay all pushy which was nice as we wanted some time to go away and talk about it and look at the photos we took.
Very highly recommend Butterfly Brides, my dress was perfect! There is a beautiful selection of dresses and Brenda & her team helped me select the perfect dress using their experience and expertise, as well as making me feel comfortable. I never felt rushed into making a decision. I used the recommended person for my dress alteration, Linda Quinton, who did an amazing job! She was very helpful and accommodating.
I am quite disappointed to have to be writing this review. I came to the dress shop expecting that I would be a bit limited in what dresses I could try on due to being a size 18. The lady that was consulting with us reassured us there was dresses we could try and we could get a good idea of what they would look like on even if they didn't fit properly. This was true and she was helpful in finding some different dresses to try. I fell in love with a dress that was probably a size too small and the lady tells me and my mum it could either be ordered in my size or if I would like the sale dress, that a corset back could be added for £65! it could be ordered in my size if I preferred at full price. This sounded great. I tried on the last couple of dresses for before putting the one I loved back on. When I was i front of the Mirrror the lady repeated the options already given, followed by 'You have long enough to lose the weight before your wedding if you would like to have this dress as it is.' not once in my appointment had I indicated I was intending to lose weight for my wedding. I answered firmly but politely 'no i have no intention of losing weight before my wedding or to fit into a dress.' instead of realising that it was rude to ask this. The lady responded with 'even a stone would do it.' I'm extremely disappointed that they thought that this was an acceptable remark to make to someone. I never leave negative reviews however I think its really important to hilight how ignorant this kind of comment is and how hurtful it can be. Thankfully I have learned to love myself how I am, however this could have been devistating to someone with less confidence. The dresses were beautiful and the shop was lovely but I wouldn't recommend the shop.
