We have just got home from staying at this beautiful pub/hotel. We stayed in one of the chalets which was so clean and comfy. The staff really can’t do enough for you and are really welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is amazing with cereal, toast, jam and a full English! so much choice. We also enjoyed a lovely evening meal and would highly recommended their fish and chips absolutely delicious. Looking forward to returning next year. Honestly if you are looking for a relaxing break with great food and lovely people I would highly recommend booking here.
Just returned from a one nights stay here with my brother and sister in law. I had a lovely chalet called the Hedgehog. It was clean and very comfortable. We had an evening meal in the pub the food was really good lovely home made food. The breakfast was just as good as the evening meal a beautiful full English breakfast cooked very well and very tasty. The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly. A lovely welcoming family run business. Will definitely be coming back to stay again in the New Year.
This is a lovely find. I stayed in one of the bee pods. A privately enclosed building with everything you need. Beautifully presented and clean and attached to the pub. Fantastic location near to explore the beautiful suffolk coast. Really good value for money. I know this has literally changed owners within the last month and loved the welcome I received from the new owners. A Great family run business. Thank you! Will come again.
We stayed for a night when visiting the local area and were met with a warm welcome. The room was clean and comfortable with good facilities. The pub has a great selection of drinks and the food was really good and reasonably priced. We will definitely return.Rooms: 5/5
Since new ownership it's not worth the time. Walked in through the front door and the blonde lady working saw me enter and didn't acknowledge me, went through to the bar and waited 15 minutes before being served a pint not even a "sorry for the wait" no smile just glum and rude. There was children in the upstairs apartment who would continuously come down and serve themselves drinks throughout the night without anyone of age behind the bar etc and the owners allow family and friends behind the bar as and when to serve themselves drink sometimes free of charge, yet they have guests waiting to be served themselves, it's not exactly a busy pub.. any wonder.
Went for a family meal, was told there was live music on which we weren’t staying for so they sat us away from the music in the conservatory. The band set up yards away from our table and began sound testing whilst we were finishing our mains, to which we couldn’t hear each other speak. My daughter had dirty cutlery. The sachets of condiments on the table tasted funny, when checking they were almost 1yr out of date, salad cream made with egg! Put me off my food. My starter plate was left on the table, unlike everyone else’s, the waiter only took it when he brought me my main meal. Same again with my main meal, everyone else’s took bar mine. There was just too many little things to create an issue, such as being told they were all out of the drink my partner was drinking, to then finding some. Due to all these issues, we won’t be returning. Food was ok!
The room was very clean and well equipped. Bed linen lovely. We had the full English which was exceptionalRooms: 5/5
Was so disappointed went for a Sunday roast with my family as I was told it really lovely there. The food was horrible we had roast beef you could not cut it it was so tuff looked liked it had been stamp on them slap on the plate made me feel sick just looking at it. we ask for large portions that was meant to come with 2 Yorkshire puddings husband only got one as they had run out but was still going to charge you extra. When I did complain to the waitress he just smiled I ask to speak to the manger she said they have ordered a different beef no apology it was only the fact she herd me say it to husband that she did say sorry. really sorry but they should never of severed it in the first place the only good thing was the broccoli.
Little pub in Knodishall easily driven by but well worth stopping. Bar lady called Sam very welcoming and friendly. New summer menu to try, I had steak pie my absolute favourite and it didn’t disappoint, my husband having the chicken tikka masala curry, with poppadoms and nann bread which was a generous portion. There has been a new landlady since August the interior has been decorated with style and taste. Give it a try your be pleasantly surprised.
My wife and I went to The Butchers Arms for a meal one evening a couple of weeks ago, must admit we were a bit shocked to see how overgrown and unkempt it looked outside, but decided looks could be deceiving! My wife had a burger and I had chicken, the chicken was overcooked and dry brown instead of golden my wife's burger bun had obviously been microwaved as it was chewy! Would have mentioned it to the lady serving had she seemed in the least bit interested blond with glasses we stayed for a couple of drinks as we were meeting friends later... around 8ish a chap, I assumed to be the chef, came out and stood by the bar and proceeded to down several pints, chatting to anyone that would listen getting notably louder with each drink, moaning about work. We decided at this point to leave as it was getting very uncomfortable. Would we go there again? No!!
