OK you don't get cut price books but the personal touch from the staff more than makes up for it. Nothing is too much trouble for the ladies who run the shop... I happened to mention Francis Pryor as one of his books had been mentioned in Phil Rickman's latest novel "Friends of the Dusk" - they didn't have that book in stock but produced two other written by him. I couldn't make my mind up which to purchase so bought them both. I've driven through Church Stretton loads of times when travelling from Bolton to Brecon along the A49 it's now going to be a regular stop off for me to break the journey. I was in the shop for just over 3 hours - Phil was doing a book signing there. So if you're driving along the A49 don't forget to turn off at the traffic lights in Church Stretton and visit a fantastic book shop.

Burway Books epitomises what we are losing as Amazon gains market share: crowded shelves full of books you can't help but browse; friendly, knowledgeable staff; and a very personal and efficient service. Forget Amazon and return to the pleasure of browsing and buying!
