We went on Mother’s Day where the speed of food preparation was really poor. The management team were nice enough to explain what was going on and did apologise. The food however was fairly standard and didn’t meet our expectations quite sadly. It was tough and just resembled standard pub food. I personally think the breakfast/brunch menu should be extended to all day because the selections on there were much nicer. The family tables for young children are so small ! They are the only accessible ones with buggy’s and high chairs etc so respectively for families. But they are smallest tables in the whole restaurant ! And they’re right by the front door - so you’ve always got the draft which again you don’t want with young children. So confusing. There were a number of other families sat around us and they’re ALL families of 4 + people. So why they get the smallest tables is beyond me. The other tables in the restaurant were on platforms or high bar stool or on the second floor so couldn’t use them Would not go again
Borderline pathetic, easy one star, it should be noted they did comp a round of drinks but they couldnt be bothered to garnish the cocktails as per previous drinks. Starters turned up after mains, wrong mains turned up, mains delivered shockingly incomplete, dishes delivered 30mins apart, completely disinterested staff, the manager and staff are woefully out of their depth and lets not pretend that this is a high end restaurant, its a knock off wetherspoons and it cant even do that properly. It was a comedy parody of what a pub restaurant should be, except no-one was laughing. Food was so poor, nothing like as described or photographed on the menu. Steak was overcooked, but somehow also cold, suggesting it sat there for a long time before being delivered to table. Merry burgers delivered without stuffing or without pigs in blankets. Chicken delivered without chips, etc seriously the plate was 25% full how on earth they thought it was ready to go to table is abysmal. Barely a working salt or pepper shaker in the entire establishment. Place only a third full maximum so no excuses. Decor is actually nice, seats are comfortable, do NOT be conned into a false sense of security, avoid with prejudice.
The service was slow, and the staff that gave us our drinks was rude maybe with the extra money you make off your 2 for 1 cocktail scam you should get your staff to take a customer service training course. And also if you're trying to encourage people to order off their phones/ App maybe sort out the Internet. The food was good though that's why I gave it 2 stars. Drinks was filled 90% with ice. If not filled with ice the drinks was half filled.
Second time having lunch at slug and lettuce mk. Staff extremely friendly. Service prompt and food served hot. Highly recommend if you want a nice relaxed lunch. Even had a 2for1 cocktail.
The deco was fantastic, but it’s a shame that it’s been let down by over priced poor quality food! They even charged me £1 for two tiny onion rings!!! What a rip off! I would rather go to subway and get the same sandwich I order at a 1/3 of the price they charged! I won’t be eating there again!
I've been here for two birthdays l, one bottomless brunch and a cocktail making. The bottomless brunch I wouldn't recommend, the drinks included were minimal and not great. The food was an average spoons. The cocktail making was really fun though, we had a nice host and we enjoyed making the different cocktails I wouldn't say we did a great job as they didn't taste great the food was alright. We did have a good time.
Turned up for afternoon tea which is booked for 12:00 and deposit paid for ahead of arrival. Turned up to be greeted saying they didn't open until 12 I got there at 11:55 bit strange booking a table for the exact moment you open but moving on. Cream tea and sandwiches arrived, sandwiches were poor quality and the bacon sandwiches were sent back due to questionable colour of meat and taste, we sent the sandwich selection back and the staff did remake the sandwiches and had slightly improved, but was a very odd selection of sandwiches/wraps. Very small selection of mocktails 3 and the normal cocktails were out of a packet as I could see the bar where they were preparing them. The ladies toilets cubicles had no toilet roll, and most of the stalls locks didn't work. Also requested no raisins in the scones in the dietary requests on arrival realised they had left the raisins in as they don't make them without if they had informed us before we could have made other arrangements. This was my wife who dined not myself just posting this on her behalf.
Staff are trying hard, but there’s not enough of them and the management are not sharp enough to recognise and react to the impact this will have on customer experiences. As a result my experience was so bad that I’ll never, NEVER spend money at Slug & Lettuce again. Cue the inevitable social media team response.. “we’re sorry to hear about this isolated incident, please contact us as we’re keen to understand how we fell short of our usual high standards…”
What an amazing night we had with San, he thought us few cocktails lessons. He was so polite and very kind. We will definitely come back again. My friends were so happy and loved the night.
No heating. We had to leave our coats on the whole night. Couldn't feel our feet by the end of the night. Two bar staff to serve downstairs and upstairs. An hour's wait for every drinks order. Server did his best. Food was decent but got cold within minutes. Won't go back in a hurry.
