I made the mistake of buying two of their loaves at a Wanstead street market. They looked good, and - once upon a time - they probably tasted good. But no way had they been baked that day. Can't say if it was one day or two day old bread - it was a sour dough loaf and baguette - but both were disappointing in the extreme. I went back to the stall later that day and the guy selling said that it had been baked at 3:00 am, and that it was the lack of preservatives that made it the way it was. Like hell it had. I bake nearly all my bread and have done for years, never with any preservatives. I KNOW what settled bread tastes like and this was well settled. I mailed the company to let them know and to hear what they had to say before posting this review, but I've heard nothing. I can only assume from the number of similar reviews here they just get too many complaints. I really won't be buying from them again.

NOT EVEN ONE STAR I'M AFRAID!! 2 years running now i've been to the Enfield Food Festival and bought what looked like delicious, fresh crusty loaves/french sticks/pastries from this stall. The first year i spent over £15, but binned the lot after i got home as all tasted old & stale-not fresh, or crusty, like they look! THIS year i vowed not to buy anything, but once again, the breads all looked so yummy i gave them the benefit of the doubt. French stick rock hard/stale, chewy&spongy & like a lead weight.Custard danish pastries stodgy/chewy & certainly not fresh. If you are selling expensive, speciality breads/pastries to sell at a Food Festival, wouldn't you expect the bakers to be up at the crack of dawn to bake them fresh on the same morning???, so that they are at their best?I could have got 4 times as much fresh crusty bread for my money in my Sainsburys/Waitrose, & it would have a nice crusty outside with a fresh interior-not so on this stall!!I realise fresh breads such as these only normally last for one day, but these were more like 3 days old when i bought them! If they cut small pieces up for people to TRY FIRST, they would not sell ANYTHING!, unfortunately they do not, so we all waste lots of money!! NEVER, EVER AGAIN.

Disappointed. Paid $4 for a stale loaf of bread. Before buying it, I asked if the bread was fresh. I was told that it was, but that's hardly believable considering its texture.

What a welcome treat to buy my lunch from these guys when visiting UEA Students Union. The hardest thing was choosing what to buy! I went for a Mixed Pepper Focaccia and a Vegetable Samosa, thinking that's two lunches worth, but it was all so yummy I ate the lot. And all for the price of less than a train station coffee. Highly recommended!

The food products come from a factory in Essex and the outlets seem to be franchisees and not the bakers themselves. A very expensive bakery but looks amazing!
