Stayed here 1st year and loved it. Although there is a variety of styles and I think I might have gotten lucky with the size of my kitchen, I was very happy with it for the price. The broadgate team are great with fixing any problems you have, we got a new oven installed overnight! And there is a reception, library and social area. Also an amazon locker within reception which is very useful.
The prices they advertise online for accommodation are not accurate. They will change it AFTER you’ve signed the contract and it’s somehow now magically the exact amount of your damage deposit meaning you will not get that back. Crooked
A lovely outing for the whole family. The ropeswings are exceptionally well maintained and the views from the top of the hill are stunning. Me and my family visit here on a almost weekly basis. The access for elderly people is mostly good although in some areas railings could be included to suit everyone's need.
I had a short term contract via an agency to help with small maintenance tasks in student accommodation before the new term started.nnI chose to work here for a number of reasons. It was close to home, and I wanted to gain this experience to add to my portfolio of work environments. It definitely wasn't for the wages, I actually took a pay cut for the experience.nnMy first impressions were how friendly the other staff were, and things seemed pretty organised.nnHowever, after a few weeks it soon became apparent that the office staff clearly didn't care about students accommodation, it was all about budget and cost.nLet's see if the students complained themselves, then we will address the issue, and use some of the budget to make good.nnMy report is not that of a disgruntled ex employee, but more of an eye opener for potential students or parents who are considering paying the fees for accommodation, on trust that they are getting value for money.nnI'm sure that there are many rooms in various flats that are to standard, so please don't assume that my criticism is a reflection on the whole site, on the contrary, I have been in some very nice areas of the campus, I just wanted people to be aware that they should fully check their accommodation prior to signing the contract.... you will get the blame for existing damage and loose your deposit.nnIt's all very exciting moving into your own place, no adults, surrounded by like minded people your own age, and the social possibilities are endless. This is going to be your own personal space for quite a while, so don't worry about reporting any defects, no matter how small or insignificant you might think they are.
