Beeston Hockey Club

About

Nottingham Hockey Centre is the leading hockey facility in England.

Story

Highfields Hockey Centre has been at the centre of hockey in the East Midlands for 35 years and has served the sport well since Jesse Boot bequeathed the site to the City and people of Nottingham 80 years ago. The quality of the new pitches and social facilities is extremely hard to match anywhere else in the country.

The vision to improve our Club began in 1996, to now appreciate the full splendour of our achievement is gratifying but must be viewed in the context of all the hard work of the many people who have contributed to our success.

Our partnership with the English Institute of Sport (EIS) has been essential and their generous support through the Sport England Lottery Fund has made the vision a reality. The assistance and backing from Nottingham City Council provided a solid foundation for the project and the basis of an excellent working relationship.

The past help and advice of our commercial partners at Tynemill Limited has been invaluable and we have now taken over the bar operation in order to secure the future for Highfields and the catering is franchised to Nottingham Events Company Limited.

Beeston Hockey Club, Nottingham Players Hockey Club, Nottingham Lacrosse Club and Beeston Centurions YFC joined forces in 2001 at the inception of this project. The affiliation of Hockey, lacrosse and football under the single ‘umbrella’ of Highfields Hockey Centre may seem unremarkable to the outsider but we are setting an emerging precedent in English club sport. The development of multi-sport facilities is well established in Europe but is a rarity in the UK.

Highfields Hockey Centre will continue to work co-operatively in order to provide facilities of the highest quality for all users of whatever sporting discipline. As part of the EIS Network we are very well placed to expand on this great new beginning. Highfields has recently become the East Midlands National Hockey Performance Centre.

Highfields Hockey Centre regularly host both national and international hockey events. In 2010 we hosted the FIH Womens Champions Trophy.

Fantastic Christmas parties, great entertainment, lovely staff. Bar prices sky high and water seemed to run low towards the end hence the only reason for my 4 star but the effort they put into the evening was amazing and it looked stunning. Highly recommend for a Christmas party with the team
What a wonderful hockey centre this is, 4 great pitches, 1 that requires relaying, and a 1/2 size pitch to boot. Wonderful staff, in the bar and elsewhere. Good food on offer.
Fantastic facility. What a thriving club full of energy creating lots of opportunity for schools to play. Combining with University. All in all very well set out hockey centre. Well done to all involved on making this happen.
The bar 'person' was rude and unhelpful. I entered the bar with a mask on and someone was sat at a table and no one behind the bar. He asked what I wanted? I said order some drinks. He mumbled something about the QR codes on the tables. I eventually realised I had to sign into the WiFi and order the drinks through the WiFi and QR code. We got the drinks delivered outside to the table and offered the nfc machine and I said I didn't have the relevent card. He seemed a little agitated at this and motioned me to put it in the slot. I entered my pin and after the receipt appeared he took out my card and gave it to me. While I was drinking my drink some came out of the bar without a mask and a couple of minutes later two people entered without masks! Also at the top of the steps the AstroTurf is a trip hazard. The hockey session was for SEN children, some with mobility issues and could become seriously hurt.
I love Sian she is the best member of staff you have
Lots of parking and different hockey games being played. Bar, food and toilets.
We had our Christmas party there. Hosted by "Best Party Ever" it was fun, a lot of room, good entertainment.
Having the best time watching the show and partying here
Great facilities and coaching staff
My partner went here for a Christmas works night out, he said the entertainment was excellent, the staff friendly and the drinks although pricey were good. He was very disappointed with the food though, it didn't get served till after 9pm, the only starter option was beetroot based that he can't eat and the chicken was quote "very very dry"
