I really enjoyed staying here. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and created a quiet pleasent atmosphere. My room was entirely fit for purpose and they provided tea and coffee making facilities, towels, soap, shower gel and shampoo. My bedding was clean and my room smelt fresh. I was on the non-smoking floor. Can't speak for the smoking floor and I know a lot of people on here have complained about that smelling bad - but what did they expect?! Lights, TV, shower and hairdryer all worked fine. I honestly don't understand why this place has so many bad reviews. I would definitely stay again.
Not that great, to be fair but then again wasn't the most expensive. The airport shuttle advertised didn't exist. The Stairs agent been hoovered in a while The only reason I booked. The cups in the room hadn't been washed properly. There was a plastic cup on the edge of the bath that looked like it had old shower gel in it. No spare toilet roll. Mould in the shower curtain. And I definitely wouldn't walk in the carpet in bare feet due to all the bad stains on it. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and clean.
The hotel was one of the worst I've ever visited. We arrived in September 2018. It was immediately obvious the hotel had seen better times. First impression was that the hotel was possibly used generally as a hostel for the homeless, or was unloved and seriously underfinanced by the Britannia Hotel Chain There are steps up to the lift, which appeared to be in poor order and the corridor to our first room had dirty carpets, doors covered in crayon and boot marks and a fire extinguisher had been ripped from the wall. The room itself was shabby and had a large window which was open, with no catches to close it. Our second room was very small with sealed windows. The furniture was scratched and missing handles. I felt for the manager, who approved our refund. Which it appeared, from a comment by the receptionist, to be a regular occurrence. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
Receptionist was rather rude on arrival & seemed quite put out at having to check us all in. When asked when the bar opened, we were greeted with 'whenever I feel like opening it' seemed to be a hotel where the 1st floor residents consisted of people who had been evicted from their own dwellings. Smell of marijuana knocked you for six, as you walked through the corridors........not a pleasant experience
Rooms with "you might get WiFi", not enough space, smells of mold. Good place if you're just looking to stay a night, but not for anything else. Cheap prices if booked in advance, but they overprice you if you want to extend your stay. Hair dryer that comes in the room is dangerous, my hair got caught on the back and I had a lot tore off.
Check in was slow and they tried to charge more than confirmed price. It didnt look like it has been cleaned for a while. Droning sound from fans all night. Am glad we only stayed one night. Had used it a few years ago when it was much cleaner. Wont be using there again
Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel more than tired, rooms shabby and carpets dirty. No pillow protectors, just marked pillows under pillow case. Bathroom tiles with mould and floor had hole in. Could not open wardrobe as chair in way. In dire need of refurb. Not a great night.
How do I describe this place... Arrived and it was clear it hadn't been hoovered in about 15 years. The receptionist was busy on the phone.. no issues there. Then she hung up and proceeded to go next door to the bar and start serving pints to people... hmmm. Beds were clean I guess. Room wasnt. Attempted to use the shower gel and it smelt like purified vegetables, my mum wore her flip flops in the shower. Was greeted two doors up to a loud party in the room and right across the hallway a couple were clearly being intimate due to the skin slapping and loud moans coming from the room at 4pm. I'm almost positive this hotel is only still open due to the proximity to the airport. At the end of the day, I guess if you need a place to crash before an early flight from Manchester its ideal. For any other reason, do not go.
If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. The hotel itself is awful, absolutely disgusting. It reeks of stale smoke and if you look outside onto the flat roof there are piles of cigarettes that have obviously been dropped from the window. The carpets are stained and threadbare and furniture broken. Our initial room was so dirty, we felt the need to buy some dettol wipes from tesco to clean and we are not clean freaks by any stretch of the imagination. The filth was easily wiped away so there was no excuse for the cleaners. When we pulled back the bed covers and saw hairs we decided to go and swap rooms. The staff were so helpful though and swapped us no problem. Infact the woman said "yeah 3rd floor isn't the best, I don't like 3rd floor, I'll move you to the second" suggesting that this is a regular occurrence. Our second room was slightly more habitable however, we still gave it a clean and I felt really unsafe all night because there was no lock so I was constantly listening out. The walls are also paper thin so I could hear everything and everyone going about their business. When we woke up, we realised that our phones hadn't been charging they had our boarding passes on and we were flying within a couple of hours.when we went down, we were told the electric had blown. It was quickly resolved again, by the polite staff however it made our journey slightly more difficult.
Disgusting. My room had 3 light bulbs missing. The carpets were heavily stained. I found dried food under the dressing table and screwed up tissue paper. The wall by the bed had a nasty brown stain. In the bathroom, the shower rail had been pulled off the wall, that and the shower curtain were just left on the side of the sink. There was a tile missing. Other tiles were mouldy. I couldn't face showering or bathing there. The windowsills were covered in mould, I saw two spiders, one on the ceiling and a dead one on the curtains. The lift was filthy and covered in graffiti. And there was a fight in the corridor one night outside my room. Restaurant and bar were so shabby you wouldn't want to eat there. The place is just totally run down.
