My mother spent the final 8 or so months of her life at Brentwood Arches, latterly in the Woodlands dementia unit. Her care was absolutely outstanding and the commitment of the staff to the contentment and safety of residents is unwavering. They truly care about every single resident, know their likes and dislikes, and make every one feel special and seen. The wing is filled with cheer and good will, with laughter ringing out and a sense of calm all around. She was truly happy these last few weeks. I can't thank you enough for all you have done for her, whilst also frequently checking in with the family and always providing friendly listening ears and frequent cups of tea. More widely, away from the Woodlands wing, the home is clean, friendly, warm, comfortable, welcoming and fun. The happiness of the residents is evident as soon as you walk through the door.
I was really impressed with the facilities, activities and staff I met during a recent tour of The Beeches as I am supporting an elderly friend who is considering moving into a care home. The Beeches gives the impression of being more like a hotel with a welcoming reception, coffee shop, restaurant etc. The residents enjoy a wide range of activities and now that lockdown is over, there is a busy schedule of entertainers. I loved the way the apartments each have their own front door onto a “street”. They can bring their favourite items of furniture and possibly their pets when they move in!
What a lovely, impressive home The Beeches is! The facilities are great, food is incredible and the staff are so welcoming. They always go the extra mile to keep the residents stimulated and happy. I would be pleased to recommend The Beeches to anyone looking to stay there.
My fiercely independent Grandad fell over and broke his hip a few years ago and as a result needed to go into a care home for 6 months to recover. After looking at every single care home in the area it's safe to say that no where even came close to The Beeches. For someone who was completely anti care home, he really enjoyed his time in there. The care he received was second to none and he was able to keep his feeling of independence at the same time. Plenty of activities as well and visiting him was easy and always welcoming for us. I even asked how old you have to be to live there- I'd move in in an instant!
My mother spent two years here at the end of her life which was a very emotional time for us all. Without going into all her health issues she did require a fair amount of care and assistance and to be honest due to the size of this care home it was sometimes lacking. The night time in particular if she needed assistance she would phone her family as response on her call button took so long to respond we had to call direct on the phone to get a nurse/carer to respond to her needs. We also ended up having to do her washing as so many of her clothes went missing if they were taken by them to be cleaned internally.nDon’t get me wrong aesthetically this care home takes some beating first appearance everyone is impressed. Most of the staff are very courteous including the nurses and it used to have a very good entertainment programme not sure what it’s like now due to covid . If we had our time again I think we would have considered a smaller care home for our mother as we felt there was not enough staff for the amount of residence here at times.nI believe it is now under new management so things may have improved but it is still a large care home and this should be taken into consideration.
