Never again. I have got an order worth approx £2000 in my pocket and it will not be going to Boys & Boden. Infact I will never set foot in this branch again.nI ordered a door from XL joinery prefinished oak pattern 10. Was informed that my door had been delivered by XL and was ready to collect on Monday 22nd April. I collected the door today Wednesday 24th April. Was informed that the door had been checked and was perfect. This was my fatal mistake I did not check the door myself carefully before leaving the branch. The door was placed in the van and wrapped up in a dust sheet for protection. Upon returning to site I removed the door from the van turned the door over and began to take off the cellophane and cardboard. Upon inspection it was clear that the door had sustained impact damage to the top corner of the door resulting in a piece about 5mm x 15mm had been broken off the facing corner. I decided to return the door expecting some help in resolving the problem. I got none. A guy called Stuart came out of the office and went straight on the defensive telling me that the door was perfect when it left the branch and basically informing me that all damage to doors should be reported to XL within a 24 hr period and as that had elapsed and there is nothing he could do. Obviously as the retailer consumer law had passed him by as had his manners. I have never experienced such poor customer service. I unfortunately lost my patience at this point. His parting words were that I was lucky he was at work. intimating that he would have used physical violence against me. At this point I left with my issue unresolved. I shall be contacting Mastercard to inform them of the situation.nMy order will be going to either T&G or Jewsons along with all my future business.nI will never set foot in this branch again as they are rude and totally unprofessional.nThis is a one star review. If I could have given zero I would have. After receiving a responce from the MD All I can deduce from the facts are that the culture in this business is toxic. The ethics are rotten to the core from top to bottom.nBe careful if you buy doors check everything before leaving the store. I would recommend you purchase elsewhere as you can not work like that with a supplier.
Best builders merchants. They have lots of building supplies and all their timber is kept under cover so it's nice and dry to use.
