I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dr Michaels since 2012. I’m an Orthodontist and he has been referring patients to our clinics for many years. I’ve also had the pleasure of treating a member of his family. I’ve learned much about him over the years from his patients, who are always full of praise about his professionalism and friendly disposition. If you’re looking for a dentist - look no further. .

If I could review this place without any star ratings I would, as the service provided is not worth anything. The guys a crook... ... I went for a routine checkup some time ago and didn't feel that there was anything wrong with my teeth, so was most surprised when Simon Michaels identified a filling that needed replacing and asked me to book in an appointment for it to be done. At the time I knew that he was working alternate weeks as he was flying back to Israel where his family was living and I must say that I was a little suspicious as to how he was raising the money to do this. Anyway as I was in doubt as to whether I needed this work doing, I waited for the receptionist to suggest a date and then insisted that I come the following week, when Simon wouldn't be there, which I did. When I arrived I saw a more experienced dentist called Lewis (I believe) who was covering when Simon was away. After looking in my mouth Lewis was somewhat confused as to which tooth needed the work doing to it and when I pointed it out to him he confirmed that the filling will last another 5 years at least, and doesn't need replacing. He apologised for wasting my time, but I told him not to worry as he had said what I already thought to be true. When I next went for a checkup with Simon he stated that he would need to replace the filling and that he was going to do it now. I wasn't given a chance to say anything at this point as he didn't take his hand out of my mouth whilst he proceeded to do the work. I went away a little confused as to why he was so insistent on doing the work there and then, but put it down to him needing to raise a little more money for his family in Israel and not wanting me to ask for a second opinion from Lewis, however I realised there was something a lot more sinister to this a couple of weeks later. The same tooth began hurting from deep inside a short time after the filling was replaced and after a few days of pain I realised there was something definitely wrong. I decided at this point to leave Simon Michael's practice and get another dentist to look at the problem due to dissatisfaction and not wanting to hand him anymore money for work that probably isn’t required anyway. The new dentist confirmed that bacteria had been left in the hole of the tooth before it was filled back in and that I would require root canal treatment to rectify this. He attempted the root canal treatment on 2 separate occasions (much to my dissatisfaction) but couldn't complete the work as the canals were too tight, so he referred me to see a specialist for around £800. I couldn't afford this and eventually got the treatment done abroad for a reduced cost, however they couldn't complete the crown in time before I came back to the UK and so I was planning on getting it completed when I return. Unfortunately, however, the tooth broke before this could be done so I had to get half of it extracted leaving me with half a tooth, which is still the case now. This remaining part of the tooth is slowly breaking away and I have consulted my current GP who has said that I either have it extracted leaving a gap (which I don't really want), or that I have an implant done for around £2000 (which I cannot afford). Either way I don't like the solutions on offer and really feel that this should and would have been avoided with a more professional dentist. If you are thinking about joining this dentist, I would seriously think again. What was supposed to be a routine checkup (where no work was actually required) is going to result in me needing to spend thousands of pounds to put right somebody else’s mistakes. Thank you so much Simon! - Also, just a tip for the future - if you have forgotten what somebody does for work don't guess that they are a refuse collection man! No offence to anyone who does collect rubbish, but I didn't spend 4 years at University and come out with a degree in Engineering to be insulted by a crook in a uniform!
