Called ahead to say we'd be late and the restaurant was thankfully able to hold our table. On arrival we asked for a table away from the piano which the waitress was able to do. The service was at a reasonable pace and within 10 minutes we had our drinks. Only negative was the kitchen were unable to cook one member of our parties steak correctly, after two failed attempts it was good enough, however they graciously offered to not charge. Otherwise the food was superb. The toilets are a long walk away so perhaps take a drink for the way.

Had my first date here and been back many times, normally the food is lovely and the cocktails are great but the food on new years eve was revolting and the service was awful. You will wait an age to be served drinks but please don't blame the bar staff they are always flat out. More bar staff required! Please fix the door, it hasn't shut properly for at least 3 years and its freezing. Sometimes there is a pianist in the restaurant which is lovely and adds to the warm comfortable vibe.

Lovely building but the staff l don't seem to care about serving customers. They don't even acknowledge that you are there. I can see they are woefully understaffed but noticing a customer is at the bar is not hard. Avoid those place if you like quality customer service

Amazing food once again. A lovely mix of dishes on the menu using beautiful Scottish produce. Lovely comfortable surroundings. Only minor point I would make is maybe they could add a few mocktails to the drinks list to cater for the drivers.

Very disappointed.Went as a birthday treat for my partner. Our table had one uncomfortable dining chair that was too high and a sofa seat that was too low. My starter was goat's cheese with gingernut crumb and baked beetroot. The beetroot was tasteless and seemed to have been simply boiled, not baked as it did not have the earthy taste of baked. The goat's cheese was two thin slices with crushed ginger nuts in a heap. The cheese had come straight out of the fridge and was very cold but the whole dish was served on a warm plate. My main of pork belly was very stringy and the accompanying black pudding was cold. Apart from a lot of mashed potato there was minimal vegetables, one small stalk of broccoli, a sliver of carrot and a small amount of cabbage. The dessert was equally disappointing. Described as bitter chocolate and orange tart, it was sweet and cloying to the point of being sickly and I couldn't taste the orange flavour at all. My partner fared better but was also disappointed in his sticky toffee pudding dessert which was just a plain sponge with no stickiness. The total bill was nearly £80. Excessive for what we had.
