Such a lovely park to visit, I have been coming here since I was a kid. Great playground for kids to play on, lots of grass space for kids and dogs to run around, well kept aviaries and beautiful gardens that are maintained by volunteers and donations. Food and drink from the Settle Inn is nice and reasonably priced. The other cafe could do with a revamp and something could be done with the old museum other than ghost tours at night. The lake is what lets it down and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 but the current campaign to get it dredged is going strong. It's terrible that the council don't put any money towards its upkeep.
I have been visiting this park for over 50 years. Always have a good look round it. And always enjoy either feed the wildfowl or just taking photos of different areas of the park. Today we watched loads of squirrels coming down from the trees to feed and bury chestnuts. There is a large free carpark at the back of the park just follow the main road past the entrance at the front..and turn first left before the hill.
Absolutely beautiful place. Had a lovely walk amongst falling leaves, finished with a good cup of coffee in a café. They also have aviary. Definitely recommend going there. Free parking, free entry.
Calling it a botanic gardens is a bit misleading, it is a nice park however. The Victorian fernery is particularly nice, it is very hot in there though. The aviary is pleasant to walk around.
Lovely gardens with lots of wonderful trees and floral displays, plenty of seating and shade, very peaceful, good avery and cafe. Ideal for a visit whether you are young or old. Well done to all the volunteers.
Great Park. Grew up here now take my own kids. Loads of space and room for sports or picnics. Just need to sort the lake out but they are campaigning for funding Cafe could do with a revamp but it does the job. Recommended for a chilled out day.
Really nice to walk round with winding paths and plenty of open space for children to enjoy. Lovely flower beds laid out in the spring and summer. Lots of trees and wooded areas. There's also the lake with bridges to cross and a mural wall near the main entrance. A cafe is not far in with ice creams, home made food and snacks to be had and unusual gifts and toys on sale. The Victorian furnery is also well worth a visit and I believe it's open all year round. Lots of different and really interesting ferns in the building.
Beautiful park birds were an added extra. Lovely walks although I think we only touched the surface. The huge fern greenhouse was spectacular. Lots of bargains in the small garden centre. Cafe was nice cakes a little overpriced for the size of the portion . Overall a great day was had by all
Absolutely gorgeous. Would have had a coffee sat outside, however the queue was out the door. However had a lovely walk.
Lovely place to visit, just stroll around or sit and picnic. Children's playground, crazy golf all very entertaining. Good café and plant's at very reasonable prices.
