My grandma is currently a resident here and I have nothing but great words for the staff and the treatment of her. Absolutely outstanding
I just wanted to say thank you to all of the team from doctors to cleaners in making my mum's last days as peaceful as possible and giving us and my family a welcoming and supporting environment. The receptionist who kept me updated while I had covid thank you for keeping me sane while in lockdown. You truly are walking angels and I can't express how much gratitude I have for you.
I can’t thank the nursing team enough for the support and care they have recently provided for my mum. Both her stays in the hospice and the ‘hospice at home’ service made it possible for mum to spend a precious last week of her life at home with her family, whilst still receiving a fantastically high level of professional care. The warmth and effort by the nurses towards both mum and us will make me forever grateful for this wonderful service.
The staff and volunteers are all angels. Couldn't do enough for all our family whilst one of our family was at her last few weeks on this earth. After being at Christies for 3 months which is an amazing caring place itself, it was like her coming to a lovely homely place with gardens and everything you'd wish for at this time. I took my dogs in regular which both my sister in law and all the staff loved and made a fuss of. Would recommend to anyone considering it for themselves or a loved one x
The care there showing my mother in law brenda at Bolton hospice is absolutely phamnonimal.. so kind and caring nothing is to much trouble. They are also very good with the covid rules only 2 named persons but expect that with the covid .. it's a lovely place with lovely friendly helpful.staff ..to make a patient comfortable you are going.to the right place this place should get more government funding for what it actually does for patients like brenda
The 26th of August marks a year since my wife died in this hospice. The 5 stars are for the hands-on nursing care. For the administration I would give only 3 stars. There is too much reliance on tranquilizers which, on top of morphine tends to reduce the patient to a semi-conscious state. A nurse privately admitted to me that to some extent the tranquilizers are used to make the staff's job easier. Although this is understandable it is a rather dubious criteria to use. One can't help thinking that there was also a financial criteria involved. My wife was treated by 4 different doctors who saw her seperately. One doctor gave a completely contradictory prognosis to the other doctors. Unfortunately he was correct but his manner in dealing with both my wife and I was rather unpleasant. On the first day in the place the staff were all very pleasant but being read the entire menu with the comment "your wife gets this free but you have to pay" after every item got a little tiresome, especially as I didn't want anything. If you have been looking after a terminal loved-one and can possibly keep on doing so I strongly advise that you continue. If like myself you can no longer physically manage to continue, then Bolton Hospice is probably as good as any private hospice and immeasurably better than the care in Royal Bolton hospital. Apart from the High Dependency Unit, which she said was very kind to her, my wife found the treatment in the other wards generally poor. I did ask a doctor if there was any way to buy the nursing staff a drink apart from donating to the hospice itself. I was referred to the website but there was no relevant link there. So THANKS AGAIN TO THE NURSING STAFF - but I'm afraid you've missed out on a drink through the starchy way the place is administered. Best Wishes.
Lovely place, wonderful staff, did an excellent and sensitive job looking after my lovely mother in law, kept her comfortable and dignified, I really couldn’t speak more highly of them. Thanks to all the staff for all you’ve done for her and us during this difficult time.
Wonderfully understanding, caring, kind staff doing a great job. Supported my Dad through terminal illness and now helping my sister's husband. Excellent. Thanks to all.
The most beautiful people inside and out, all the nurses, nurse's assistants and all other staff are fabulous with my Dad, he's always treated with lots of respect and dignity, and even though they are very busy, and without volunteers due to covid, they go the extra mile for him, even though its extra work for them, lots of thanks to the receptionist, kitchen staff, porters and cleaners you all make big difference in a very sad time x x x
When 5 stars just isn’t enough.
