Amazing Korean Japanese fusion food with loads of flavours. Portions are more than reasonable for the price, they suggested two per person and you feel well after that. Didn't try cokteils or dessert. Check the daily specials since are really worth. Overall good experience for £80 for two with 5 dish and two glasses of wine.
We went for the Sunday £20 BBQ plate and were pleasantly surprised. The meat was juicy with a genuine Korean twist, and portion sizes plus the sides are good for moderate eaters guessing it's about 1kg of meat in total. The lettuce provided are for you to wrap the meat and kimchee, not as a salad. All very good, with our only gripe being their table knife is a bit weak to cut through the tasty miso ribs! Would return.
Korean and western “fusion” but more Korean, and tasty regardless. The KFC and pork buns we shared as starters were both excellent, and we enjoyed crispy eel and the smoked duck, however at double the price for the duck I don’t think it was worth the premium. The kimchi was as good as any other kimchi I have had in London, and the sweet potato fries with kimchi mayonnaise were excellent. Would definitely come back again.
A restaurant located in the heart of Soho that serves up a menu of 'fancy' junk food with Mexican twists on classic Korean food. Some very good dishes but all together just not good enough. On entering a dark room, the atmosphere was bleak with only a few people dining. However, the waitress was welcoming and seated me at the bar area in a minimalist style room with exposed bricks and steel pipes. I began with some Sweet Potato Fries with Kimchi Island Dressing. The fries were crispy, aromatic and very well-seasoned. Following this, I had the Korean Fried Chicken Wings with Soy Garlic, Grapes and Rosemary which was the perfect combination of sticky and sweet. Korea unquestionably give new meaning to the letters K-F-C. Lastly, I had the Bulgogi Beef Sliders with Miso Mayo, Caramelised Red Onion which was sadly very disappointing. The meat tasted like ready-made hamburger-beef bought out of a freezer of a supermarket. In Korea, alcohol is almost always enjoyed with a snack known as “Anju.” I didn’t try their cocktails as I didn’t get into the mood. The ambiance was almost non-existent although this could have perhaps been due to the fact that I arrived just in time for last orders. With Sweet Potatoes at £4.50, KFC at £9.00 and Sliders at £10.80 it wasn’t very good value for money. Although I did enjoy some of the dishes, overall I didn’t find this place to be overly exciting. This Korean joint certainly needs to upt it’s game and is clearly lacking in ‘Seoul.’
The next time you are in Soho, why not combine your love for slow bbq cooked Americas cuisine and Asian cuisine by visiting Bo Drake on Greek Street. This lovely restaurant offers a tapas style menu perfect for sharing plates with friends. What is great about Bo Drake is you can go in for a quick bite to eat before heading off to the theatre, make a night of it by trying out their extensive cocktail list and food menu, or pop in between 5:30pm and 7pm or 10pm til close to take advantage of their happy hour where their classic cocktails are all two for £12 – bargain. During our visit we got straight on to the cocktails, trying Lost In Thyme, Amaretto Sour and Dr Jekyll & Hyde. For anyone who likes a sweet and smooth cocktail the Lost In Thyme vanilla infused vodka is perfect. The Dr Jekyll & Hyde whiskey based cocktail arrives in a tall glass bottle so you can pour it yourself and experience the mystical dry ice smoking its way out of the bottle. For me, an Amaretto Sour is always a winner. We decided to share several dishes the recommended number to share between two is around 5 or 6 dishes which is one of my favourite ways to dine. From the Small Plates section, we had the KFC Korean Fried Chicken Wings with soy garlic, grape and rosemary, the Pork Belly Bao confit new Hampshire pork belly, with pickled cucumber and soy glazed peanuts, the evening’s special crispy fried salmon Kimbap Korean sushi and the Bulgogi beef sliders. The Korean Fried Chicken was super crispy and tender and definitely a recommendation. Bao buns are currently one of my favourite foods and the Pork Belly Bao did not disappoint – great soft fluffy texture for the bao and flavoursome pork without being too fatty. From the Meats section we had the Bo Ssam smoked pulled pork, ssamjang, spring onion oil, lettuce and kimchi and from the sides we had the sweet potato fries. The Bo Ssam was a great dish where you take some of the pulled pork, wrap it in the lettuce and dip it in one of the sauces. The flavours and textures went really well together and was a fun dish to share too – be warned that one of the sauces is rather hot! We really wanted to try the much talked about Miso Galzed Baby Back Ribs but they were all out – so a good reason to return another time. Bo Drake is great restaurant within the hustle and bustle of vibrant central London. The atmosphere is stylish but relaxed and the staff are so friendly and passionate about the menu, recommending their favourite dishes and cocktails to us, which always makes the dining experience more enjoyable.
Very very delicious! The restaurant is very chic and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was delicious; the idea of a changing menu is so interesting for me and it was good to see that there were a variety of options for those who are vegan. Service was perfect; the waitress was attentive and very helpful. Bit pricy for those who are trying to save, but well worth it!
Food is pretty unique, lot's of great meat dishes. The topokki is fried which, so it's crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, delicious. Also KFC was really crunchy and tender. Unfortunately they didn't have the Beef Bulgogi Bao Bun, but seems really good.
Great food, though a little pricey for what it is. Service was passable considering it was a busy Friday night. It gets quite loud because of the bar - I'd recommend another day of the week if you'd prefer a quieter atmosphere.
Absolutely delicious! Everything we ate here was so yummy Ribs, calamari, tataki duck, rice sticks Looking forward to visiting again soon.
Excellent food but slightly cramped. The korean wings are the best here! Also got prawn tacos and beef bulgogi sliders picture
