Dinner was delicious and service was great. We stayed the night but couldn't make breakfast the next day as leaving early, they sent us on with a takeaway breakfast. Lovely community pub with a room dedicated of facts of the area and info of the Downs. There was also a local art display on pictures on the wall. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend.
Absolutely loved this place. I stayed here in early June while biking part of the South Downs Way with my 13 year old son. The food was excellent, the room comfortable and the staff were exceptionally kind. In particular, they were amazingly understanding about an unfortunate incident when my son who has quite a severe learning disability caused by a rare genetic syndrome, for reasons known only to himself, decided it would be amusing to defenestrate all the toilet roll along with the toilet roll holder if the owners are reading this, thanks SO much for your understanding and I'm still very happy to pay for any damage!.
My sister and i stayed at the blue bell while hiking the South Downs Way! This is a wonderful pub/inn and the team running the location is fabulous! They have an amazing chef who creates daily specials in addition to their full pub menu. If you are in the area, please drop in for lunch, dinner or just a drink.
Perfect for our stop over on our South Downs Way walk, comfy clean room and lovely friendly staff. Arrived on quiz night which we joined in. Locals all very welcoming. Lovely breakfast.Rooms: 4/5
Superb place to stay whilst walking on the South Downs Way. Staff were super friendly and the food was fantastic.Food: 5/5
Menu nothing like the one online. Very limited choice. I had sausage eggs and chips but as I don't eat eggs asked if I could have an extra sausage but got peas instead. Sadly average food. Staff good. Vegetarian options: Far too many !
stopped by for an early lunch on our cross country walk and very glad we did. staff were lovely, as was the food and drink. would definitely recommend!
Incredible place to stay if you're doing the South Downs Way. The staff here are beyond incredible and the food is lovely. I'll definitely be coming back again! Rooms: 5/5
I had the misfortune to stay one night while walking the South Down Way. Room and en-suite were clean and the bar was reasonably priced. BUT dinner was unavailable as they were having a BBQ. Okay that was alright and we accepted but felt guests should have been told at time of booking. Agreed a breakfast time of 8am. At 8am the place was locked up and no staff. No tables set for breakfast. At 08.10 still no staff on premises. We left at 08.20 with tummies empty and 20 mile walk ahead of us. Awful place to stay. The owner has no interest in guests staying the night so please take my advice and do not stay here.
Arrived just as they opened as a long morning walk. The staff were very nice and made sure we had everything we wanted with our food and tea, which were very nice. Would definitely recommend!
