Blue engines would appear to have a close business association or are part of the Barlow St Breakers / German Power engines group of companies based at the same Manchester address at Unit 1 Barlow St. Their engines would also appear to be sold (though not exclusively) via German Engines E-bay adverts Earlier this month I had a V.W. Passat BKP engine delivered to Glasgow after noticing their advert on E-bay. A few observations : You will probably have to phone German Power engines with details of current engine and they will then encourage you to operate outside E-bay by paying with cash or bank transfer. I agreed with this as E- Bay fees are exorbitant but I was also quite vulnerable as I was not be covered by E-bay protection. I arranged with German Power for the courier to be paid by cash when the engine was delivered. However, prior to delivery they then demanded to be paid by bank transfer and my local garage had to help me out by using the cash I had left to pay him, to go to the bank to sort this out . The engine, however, was not delivered until two days afterwards. The person at German Power, whilst able to check that the bank transfer had arrived, could not, however, advise me of the consignment reference numbers and his communication in this regard fell way short of being satisfactory, and he suggested their Google reviews proved his trustworthiness and seemed dismissive of my concerns that I had paid money into his account, outwith E-bay, without receiving anything or being able to check where the engine was . However, despite information on the E-bay site of a warranty, the company have neither provided me with a receipt, nor a written warranty to make a claim, and were very vague as to how that warranty would be claimed in Glasgow should anything happen . Their attitude seemed to me that their product was so good that warranty claims would be unlikely The engine eventually arrived in a pallet partly covered in back shrink wrap, but with no blanking plugs in the oil ways, which would allow any debris to fall down the oil passageways, giving the impression of a lack of attention to detail in the preparation of the engine. The engine was installed by the local mechanic and he told me that part of the crank position sensor holder was broken, though the sensor was eventually fitted with some fettling. Having reflected on my purchase, my feeling is that I was probably blinded by the cost savings of their engines ( in comparison to others), such that I have accepted second rate service and communication and limited warranty information, which I feel I should get after spending £1075 .Only time will tell whether I have actually saved any money at all............I would suggest that you should be be wary when dealing with this company and demand written warranties not e-bay adverts
