Blair Atholl Watermill

About

Working watermill where we produce a range of delicious breads, cakes and biscuits for our tearoom everyday. Breakfast and light lunches available.

Story

The Bakery and Tea Room
We bake a wide variety of breads, cakes, bagels and rolls in our artisan bakery. All the baking is fresh everyday using our own stone ground flour and oatmeal. We also produce a selection of delicious cakes and scones (including our famous carrot cake). We serve breakfast and light lunches as well and our produce is available as a takeaway. You can place your baking order in advance as well so you won't be disappointed!

The Tea Room is situated on the original kiln drying floor of the mill and really is like taking a step back in time! But on a sunny day, we recommend relaxing in our tea garden. The watermill is open for viewing (and free!) and you can see how oats and wheat are milled in the traditional way. There is a small shop by the tearoom where you can purchase our flour, oatmeal, tiffin, oatcakes and much more.

Bread Making Courses
Our Basic Bread Making Courses are the perfect opportunity to discover more about traditional bread making to create a wonderful variety of breads using different types of flour. The courses are run by Rami who will share his knowledge gained from milling and baking over the last 14 years.

We run a programme of beginner, intermediate and sourdough bread making courses throughout the year. For more information, visit http://www.blairathollwatermill.co.uk/classes.html.

Cool watermill. They put a sign out for a tour at 1pm right as I got there at 12:40. Was just going to grab some coffee but decided to go ahead and get some lunch and wait for the tour. Left at 13:10 with no tour in sight, just wasting 30 minutes and $10 on lunch (cheese scone was delicious but coffee and soup very mediocre)

I attended the baking course 2 years ago which was very informative and delivered in a very friendly manner, by an excellent baker. I now make my own bread and teabread twice a week. I have also visited the tearoom and shop, on many occasions. The food and coffee is excellent, all served by friendly staff. I highly rate this tearoom and would recommend the baking course to any amateur breadmakers.

Beautiful & cosy family run country mill & restaurant, with the most delicious freshly baked bread made from flour milled on site.

This place is great! The bacon, brie and chutney toastie was *outstanding*! My double machiatto was very good too. The interior is rustic and charming and cosy, and the folk running it seem lovely.

Fantastic little cafe/shop/mill. The food is excellent and the freshly baked rolls are the best rolls I have ever had (still warm). We sat outside in the sun and had our coffee brought out to us with a lovely scone and nice very tasty jam (it was so good I bought a jar and a loaf of bread) The facilities were very clean and tidy and staff pleasant.
