We stumbled across this pub while waiting for our car to have some work done in the local garage. 1st impressions was good, the staff was all lovely and very helpful a nice bunch of people to be around. The food was amazing all cooked fresh and the carvery was one of the best I have had in a long time and to be honest the food was very well priced not over priced. This is definitely our new go to place next time our car is back in the garage... I highly recommend... Thankyou for a lovely experience
I phoned ahead first to check on table availability and I was told to just arrive but on busier days it is best to book, very helpful and friendly on the phone. Nice greeting on arrival. Simple process to order and pay. The food was good and incredible value. This place had a lovely atmosphere and this was fostered by the extremely attentive, happy staff. Major bonus .... they had EV charging stations, brilliant.
Terrible experience, I can accept there was a delay on food but not that it took 35 minutes for the drinks to get to us and when it did they got it wrong ! The steak in my mixed grill was meant to be medium to well done but it was cremated - see picture. It was not busy enough to warrant how things were.Member of staff used the ladies then did not wash her hands before returning to work. Give it a miss people.
We walked in and there was a queue at the bar. Only one person behind the bar at this point. But they made sure they gave their customer their undivided attention! Not many say this but it made queueing seem easier! They took my drinks order and explained the order process. The person who took my order think he was a manager was kind and courteous and took my order with a smile and some helpful tips about what I was ordering. The servers were polite and ensured the warmer plates were kept from my kids reach. Another server saw my daughter struggling with a fork and brought over a spoon. The food was well cooked and served quickly despite the place being busy! Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about our meal and the place as a whole. Please thank your staff at Blaina Wharf Newport for giving us a 5 star experience without breaking a sweat! Amazing! Will be back soon!!
Came in for a carvery, not disappointed! Staff were under pressure and had to deal with some rude and aggressive customers, but dealt with it in a professional manner! Tom the carvery chef was so welcoming and made us laugh! Food was brilliant! Will definitely be back, and will recommend to family and friends!
Booked for a table of 8, had a really enjoyable time in a family friendly atmosphere which my 1 year old embraced toddling about especially the play area. The food was good and didn't have to wait long. The staff member Zoe behind the bar was amazing and polite even when another customers child was rude demanding crayons. She handled it very professionally. A credit to the company. They met all my family's needs as you can imagine with 8 of us was difficult and was even patient whilst we sorted splitting the bill. Nice place will eat there again. Especially go back for the cakes they were best.
Myself and my friend cane to the FRIENDS quiz this evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The pub was very clean, the staff was amazing all friendly and very welcoming. We booked online and was seated straight away. The quiz was such a good laugh! As a Mum who doesn't get out much this was the perfect way to let my hair down, can't wait for the next one! We also treated ourselves to a delicious lemon cheesecake to take home! Thank you for a great quiz
Absolutely amazing carvery! Very shocked and extremely pleased with the food here.. If you like Toby carvery you'll LOVE this place it's way better! Give it a try especially if you have never been before, huge range of soft drinks and beverages
First time visiting this pub, after having passed it multiple times. The location, building itself, and amenities are really quite nice and welcoming, alongside the warm and welcoming staff; but the food is totally not one would expect for such a nice family place. My Order: I ordered the surf n turf steak well done, served with chips, scampi, peas, and steak. I am not a fan of peas which threw me off from the start, the scampi were not what I expected tasted like they came from a Tesco bag, like the peas and chips, and oh boy was the steak well done; it was tasteless, inedible, and as hard to chew as cardboard.
Always a pleasure to come to this Pub! Popped in for a last minute Xmas meet up with some friends! Was lovely to see such happy staff! Carvery was outstanding and all good was perfect from the kitchen… even though I’m a fussy eater! 10/10
